fantastic!

i could watch that ALL DAY LONG!
helicopter? what if any kind of stabilizer did you use?

as a side note - i never will though understand grab moves in wake/snow boarding - when the board is STRAPPED to your feet??? youd think they invent something beyond skateboard logic...

thanks bro.. You'll soon get a chance too as the video will be about 45 minutes long.. but even better than this will be the doc I'm doing next year. Following the top guys in the sport over the entire 2008 season.. which will be a pretty cool. Working with some great people. I don't know the tricks or could ever do any of them.. but it's been such a great experience..

well.. It was a helicopter shoot. So much fun and hope to do it again. I didn't have a stabilizer.. all handheld stuff which I've gotten used to. Next time I might try a gyro..

you should check out wakeskating then.. not attached to anything. I'll post some of that soon too.. Thanks for looking!

Great stuff J.

Man wish I was there hanging out and trying wakeboarding. Everything looked good. Top Notch Job.

Yeah buddy... that looked sweet. I have a heli shot coming up soon and CANT wait!!!

The colors on the closeup of the boat were very nice too.

Just curious, what shutter speed did you shoot at?

heli shoots are a blast. I was just wondering what you used to stabilize the cam when you were up there. It looks really smooth. I just used a gyro and it worked pretty well, unfortunately I had to deliver the master right after the shoot so I haven't got to see the footage. by the looks of it when I was shooting the gyro worked well. We'll see.

Really nice photos. I didn't have the luxury of a guyro but man tha's cool.. also like the bungiee.. NICE. Could you share your setup?

I basically had the best helicopter pilot in the bizness. Preston.. Shoots the bigtime stuff here and din Hollywood. He shot the true lies stuff. Was the greatest experience... totally. I also believe that Tai chi and it's static poses helps me to keep a shot steady.. and as BS and crap as that may be.. some validity to it... flowing like water and crap.

I'll have another vid soon with a bit of interview.

Shutter 1/1000 pretty much always and I can shoot at maybe a 5.6 with a polerizer.

Aaron Rathy is the man! I was lucky enough to be able to shoot with him when he was in town for the Oakley video. Sick rider forsure! And yes, Preston is one of the best wake pilots around. There is a behind the scenes section in one of Justin Stephens videos that has him litterally 4' above the rider.

Stuff looks awesome man! Can't wait to see more!

Lol.. Thanks Juvi. Rathy is awesome. They all are. Actually at the Expo I was wearing Rathy's namebadge and was quite a funny time as I'm like 100 pounds bigger.. so I was telling everyone I eat him... Well was good times..

here's a new edit I just did. This is for a Doc that I'm doing with veteran photographer and all around great guy, Aaron Katen... Let me know what you think of this. We'll be Following Rusty around for 10 more months.. Really awesome guy and named Wakeboarder of the year at the Expo... cheers:

It's a really big file. I need to compress it more so please download instead of streaming:

Amazing work man! Very impressed with your Tai Chi rock solid hand... Wish I could get close to that!!

How did you get so close to the riders on those fisheye shots where they are traveling OVER you?? Are they going over a chase boat? If so that's ballz of steel for you and the rider... amazing POV.

We are getting pulled behind the boat in a tube... and sometimes on a wakeboard. There's something new on the market though that we are going to try that should be amazing and will get us the ability to be at rider heights... should be cool...

I also find that shooting with the viewfinder and it positioned up on your body.. with is much more preferred than shooting outstretched with the LCD. I'm hoping to get a gyro at somepoint and will be checking more into that later...

That was some of the coolest wakeboarding stuff I've seen! What waterproof housing do you use with your HVX200?
Colton

Colton.. Thanks so much bro. Do you shoot or watch these kinds of vids? We are going to be shooting a 10 month project so should be fun.

I had a custom housing built by Jim Bailey at www.waterhousings.com Totally pro housing and so MONEY.. worth every cent and this thing is strong and rugid as all get out...

thanks for checking it tout

I wish! I shoot a lot of documentary stuff, mainly history and a lot of corporate stuff. I do some shooting though for some guys out in your neck of the woods - Design Island in Orlando. They do a ton of museum stuff, and my wife is from Melbourne Beach so we get to Florida once in a while .I own a boat and love the water though! Thought about taking my hvx out to the lake a few times, didn't trust myself though. I will definitely purchase your video when it's available.
Colton

Colton, That's cool bro. There's now some talk that we might be working out a deal to get this on Fuel as well. That should be pretty cool and hopefully some cash comes out of it too. cheers.
