Looking for some :30 ads to use educationally.

I teach TV production at my collage, and part of the course involves Master Control Room & broadcast operations. Meaning that the students "run" the School's TV channel for an hour or two - learning how to switch and play-out pre-taped and live programs and insert commercials, etc...

The TV channel is broadcast on the school's own internal cable-TV system on campus, and also as a live web-cast that is publicly viewable (which means I can't just pull any old spots off TV to run).

I've got a bunch of student projects to use as "programs", however I'm seriously lacking in the "commercials" department. I need a few standard :30 spots that I can have the students air to practice running breaks.

I'd love to add a couple of Kinetica spots to the mix for example. So if you've got/made a spot (and own all the rights of course) and want to donate it to run on our school's channel in house and online, I'd be really grateful.

I'll be happy to tag any spots with a URL for your name/website if you so wish.

Thanks Ki-Ki .. though finding spots isn't the problem, it's finding ones I can get rights to air that's the problem. :)
We make a big deal of observing copyrights during the course, so thatg goes for teaching materials too of course.


Funny, normally ads cost to air, but finding them to air for free isn't easy. :)

Why don't you give the students an assignment where they have to create a 30 sec PSA? Then you'd have plenty of spots to work with. You would still have to stay on top of the rights issues for images and audio.

I'm not surprised that you're getting resistance to using others ads. While the clients may be tickled to not pay the air time they don't want to deal with the clearance rights of the actors or music companies.
 
Give me a few days, and I'd be glad to come up with a few real commercials for my products and services that you can use. I'll can use any extra exposure I can get...

I wish I could give out "The PSA" assignment ... but this isn't an A/V production course, it's a DigitalTV & Streaming course, it's about the technology of production, transmission, and delivery.

I will however be sure to recomend the "PSA" assignment next time I teach the A/V production class.

So do you want pretty much anything that's legal and :30 in somewhat of an advertising delivery?

Do you want me to throw something together and give you a link to download it?

What format do you want it in? .mov .wmv etc?

I could probably bang out a couple in no time if you just need a few "bricks" to finish your schedule.
 
.avi (Playout will be from 16:9 .avi Windows DV). If you want to throw something together that would be great.

Heck, :15s or :20s would work too. I'll take what Poeple have. I just figured with Adfest just behind us that there would be some :30 stuff ready to go that people didn't mind donating to an educational outlet.

You might try contacting the producers directly. I discovered this thread only by accident.
