Hey all,

All of you that are in LA should check out the Killacycle motorcycle crash, i was filming at Wired Nextfest and we are the only ones that captured the crash on video.

KNBC (NBC 4) is going to air the video at the 11pm news.

At the Wired Nextfest convention in downtown LA the owner demonstrated a burn out and accidentally speed off and crashed into a parked van.

This video has been all over the internet today (slashdot, digg, wired, engadget, and many other sites).

For all you that are not in Los Angeles you can watch the video here:

As retarded as that guy was,..........HOLY CRAP DID YOU SEE HOW FAST THAT THING WAS?

Now THAT, was truly awesome. Kids, don't try this at home.

He was not expecting the bike to actually move, but when he was down he was saying that the ignition stuck and would not stop, but by the time he crashed he was slowing down.

Lucky he is ok, and he is getting tons of press from this.

I was looking at Fox 11 and they have the footage from the other crew but because of where they where standing the smoke made it so you cant see the crash with there angle, so i really am the only one that cought it on tape.

I really cant believe how big this whole thing got, our webmaster said that he had 4 servers each pushing 100mbps all day. so i estimated about 170,000 plays in 24 hours.

The Killa' Cycle... maybe think about changing the name.

If something does 0-60 in under a second you better hope the front tire doesn't chirp off the ground from a millisecond of a power-wheelie... which is what I think actually happened... not the stuck thing-a-ma-bob.

He just doesn't want to admit that it's a stupid design because of my previous point and the evidence in exibit A.

Notice the rear tire profile and the front tire size and profile... plus the weight balance... if the front tire goes light for a second then you're gonna' hit a van at 60 mph.

And I'm sorry... but I'm still trying really hard not to laugh.

Holy crap, that's awesome. Although maybe best not to use a drag bike for a technology demonstrator. Lighten that thing up by removing batteries until you get down to around 120hp. Even that's a chunk of power for a street bike.

Congrats on getting the footage.

Well stupidity seems to ignore IQ. Why was he attempting something like that in a populated area? It could have spun around and took out the camera crew or other bystanders. That is meant to be done on a strip with barriers. Other than his actions, I am really impressed by that bike.

On the other hand webdog, I don't like the way you embedded the clip. At the end you have an ad square in the middle of the frame... and it won't go away. I tried to back the clip up a little to check something out, and that damn ad was right there until I refreshed the page and had to reload the whole clip again.

That folks, is a rather cool display of the battle between the massive forces of stupidity and good luck going head to head.

Cool bike. Stupid place and way to demo it. Glad no one was killed, hopefully the driver makes a full recovery and keeps working on the project, hopefully with a little more effort on the safty front.

I was working with the crew that the fox footage was from.
Crazy stuff.
the guy was back inside the fest later that day with a bandaged head and 13 staples.

He said he wasn't the driver, now I see why. I'll bet he thinks twice about doing his own stunt driving (riding) next time. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
