Super Clean Mole Richard Spec Spot

I've been following your progress here and at the Reel-Stream forum, Chris. It's looking really, really good! I'm sorely tempted to invest in the Andromeda mod, but it's such a tough decision...! The image quality you've arrived at is incredible, but it's daunting to hear how much tweaking it's required.

Anyhow, kudos and keep it up! I'm always curious to download and view your work, regardless of the file size, so keep 'em coming :)

You can now download version 1 of my LUTs in this thread, as well as read more about the process for making higher performance custom LUTs and how to get the most out of them :)

I won't lie, Andromeda IS a "mini Viper" like system, so its really more for "power" users like myself. If you already have a DVX100, I'd highly recommend it, great way to extend the cameras life, especially since the mod doesn't put any hours on your cameras record heads, so even if you do burn the tape drive out, you can still capture using Andromeda because all you're making use of is the imaging block. Pretty cool.

Curious question about the andromeda - the camera needs to be tethered to a laptop in order to use it right? Or can it record on the field? Coz if you don't need to drag along a rather cumbersome laptop in order to capture footage, it'd be a pretty viable upgrade for me in future!

A laptop or any other computer is required to run the capturing software. So yeah, tethered 100% of the time via firewire. Which is the norm, really, when you're talking about capturing uncompressed images.

I would say it depends....

My current setup (using a Mac Mini and touchscreen):

Entirely Hand held:

(note: this is super custom, its a 3D system!)

2D Hand Held:

As you can see, it really all depends on how crafty you are, I'm headed into a modular Anton Bauer powered hand held rig sometime early next year hopefully, my portable case setup is just temporary. I currently use a small jump starter battery for remote power.
