Another feature film on the HPX500

NICE...Smelni. You got me all excited. I'm on my way to Thailand to shoot a feature in late Sept. with the 500 as well.

Two questions I like to ask if you don't mind:

1. How do you archive your footages on location/set?
2. How big of a budget did you guys have to be able to get some of the veteran actors in there? Particularly this one?

Heh, I sure wasn't expecting to see Ryan Hurst's face there! I've worked a bunch with Ryan. Congrats on the film!
 
Did you experience any vignetting with the three stage Cavision mattebox? Looks like a MB4169H3?

1 - on set we copy each card to 3 hard drives via a laptop - we have a 2nd 2nd AC who does that. THere is a log to keep track of where each card is copied to - and until its copied to at least 2 locations we cannot reuse the card. With 4 16 gig cards we never had to wait for a card even shooting 1080
2- Unfortunately I cannot release any information about budgets.

None whatesoever even at the widest - the only issue with the mattebox is making sure the rotating stage doesnt hit the lens. Also I needed to remove the screw on UV filter from the lens when we had filters in to prevent internal reflections.
 
Was the screw-on UV an 82mm thread / 85mm OD type? We recommend against having any filters stacked behind the mattebox rough opening for vignette.

I'm surprised you'd get reflections if the rubber 120mm - 85mm donut was parked against the UV filter instead of the HVX front element (of the same 85mm OD.

Odd, but certainly not impossible.

vignetting is not an issue so we keep the UV filter on at all times except when we place a filter in (for lens protection)

the reflection happens and can be subtle and easy to miss - but its there very often once a filter is in the matte - basically light bounces between the UV and the matte filter
 
Do you have Cavision's plastic nesting split-ring reducers or the single 120-85mm rubber donut?

William Devane is one of my favourite actors. Highly underrate and sadly under used these days. If you have a way of contacting him for projects, let me know. I'd be very interested in working with him at some stage.
