Anyone out there with SKYPE?

So apparently there is a radio show out of Australia that wants to interview me about one of the shows I've been producing, and they asked if I could do it using Skype (which I've never used before).

I just downloaded and installed it today - and I think I have it set up correctly....but I'm hoping one of our kind DVXUsers out there will help me check it out.

I'm not really familiar with how this system works - but if I understand it correctly, you can contact anyone else who uses Skype for free (is that right?). If so, I was hoping one of you out there with Skype installed could possibly try to call me on it, so I can make sure this is set up properly.

Any takers?

I've never used it, but I do know it's free. Mikko uses it.

They had a promotion at one point in time where it was free to call non-skypers even. Regular phones too... But, I think that has been over for almost a year now.

If you don't get any responses, I can download it and try it out with you if you want. If you promise not to get too turned on by my voice :)

Thanks for the heads up.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to download Skype (and quit sniffing glue)

Jason - I guarantee nothing.
But you'd have to have one HELL of a voice.

Luis, I don't have my headset on hand (I'm still on the road for IBC).

But feel free to add me to your skype-list and I'll give you a call when I get home later today or tommorrow.

My Skype Username: "mikkowilson" (of course!)

Note that you can add your Skype username to your DVXuser profile, and it will show as a little Skype icon under your username.

Also, you can make test calls on skype by dialing "echo123" in the skype adress-bar and hitting send.
I have "echo123" saved as a contact so I can just quickly run a test call before calling someone.

Skype is really cool
I use it to talk to my brother in the uk (I'm in South Africa) and the sound quality is not bad at all

Thanks Mikko -
I found the testing call 'number' and it's echo123 (I tried test123 and it wouldn't connect). It seems like it works alright - suprisingly easy to setup.
But it's always best to test these things with an actual human....

I'll ping you when you get back.
Thanks again.

Skype is terrific. Speak with my son studying in China regularly, on the compute or his cell. Sometimes the network fragments the comm but for the most part amazing.
