Canon user thread - post your pictures here

Where are you guys?

I´m thinking about buying the 1.8 50mm but unfortunately I´ve read some bad stuff about the AF and the build-quality of it.

Did you have bad experiences with it? Would you still really recommend it?

PT-

Long time no chat. I am still getting settled into my new diggs in California.

That lens is AWESOME! It is definitely the best bang for the buck. If the 1.4 is better I wouldn't know it because I've never used it. But, the 1.8 50mm is a steal at well under a $100 bucks.

Hey Rick, I see you´re still alive.

Looking forward to seeing some shots from California. :)

And thanks for the comment on the lens. I think I will buy it soon. I want to do some portrait stuff.

Wow 2 in the Can! I am at a loss of words. Great with black and white and with the rays of sunlight coming around the tree! Can't wait until the photography contest comes back up. Looking forward to doing battle again!

Either the Canons come with better kit lenses or the Nikons is just an inferior camera. Perhaps its just personal taste. I just think the majority of the pics in this thread are better than the ones in the Nikon thread when you look at sharpness, colors etc.

Interesting, I happen to think the opposite. :)

Hm, were those taken with a mobile phone camera?^^

lol pt my friend...its all about taste. ^^

for my taste these pics that matty posted look much better than almost everything else in this thread because they look organic and filmlike. i love them... :)

okay. sometimes they are a little bit out of focus (first shot way too much ^^) but the other images look still much better than those oversharp pics that are often posted here.
i don't like the digital edgy look...i like organic images...

They capture some nice moments, but the focus leaped out at me. We don't walk around in life with blurred vision (Okay, unless I'm on the Cab Express) so I think it detracts immensely from the subject matter

OUCH!

They are low light candids without a flash.
Things are going to get shallow.
all were shot at 1600iso with a nikon 35mm 1.4 at 1.4 on a cannon 20D.
fully manual.
I would have stopped down a bit if i had the light.
I don't feel that it is distracting though. I'd rather see my friend and her kid having fun eating with great atmosphere than see that lighting ruined with a flash or see details of the diner we were at.

Thanks. :)

Well, the cool thing is, it wasn´t done in a studio or something. He was just standing in front of a bright window. So the background was pretty overexposed and that meant I could easily make it white.

I´m quite happy with it. It´s a nice no-budget solution if you don´t have a studio.

Wow PT. That is a sick picture. It does look like he is in a studio against a white background. Great monochromatic picture~

Just my first few shots with my new XTi - hopefully they'll get better.

All shot with the stock kits lens.

Kegan...thanks for the tease. ugh.

I really dig your other 3. Especially the pic at the races. I love the feel like we are seeing a piece of horse racing history from a bygone era...not sure if that was your intention...but very cool shot.
