Just Switched From Vegas To Fcp

Final Cut is pretty user friendly. I have never used Vagas, but if you have ever used Premier Pro, I hear FCP is very simular.

I started out learning Avid, but once I purchase FCP I said forget about it. It was so user friendly that by the time I got through the learning tutorials I was hooked.

Hope it helps.

Well why did you switch in the first place? It's definitely a very different solution.

In that case I'd say unlearn what you know about commands. Vegas and FCP are quite different in their approach. I'd suggest taking a course in FCP just so you can start from square one. Apple has good training courses and books from Peach Pit. And there's always my DVD and Barry's put together for the DVX workflow.

The snowfilm industry ?

FCP makes and breaks the industry standard ?

Sigh .......................................................................................................

I thought it was the skills of filmmakers like Warren Miller and not the OS and NLE.

Call me crazy.

From my brief experience with FCP, after being a Vegas user for many years: you can't get there from here.

If you're going to embrace FCP, embrace it for what it is. Ditch all that you know, because the two programs have very little in common. And don't spend a lot of time complaining because this doesn't work the same way, or that doesn't work the same way, because the fact of the matter is: no, they don't work the same way. Yes the transition is tough -- I quit trying and sold the Mac I had. Eventually I'll have to get back on the FCP horse, and Sony's making it easier for me to make that switch by making Vegas a more-and-more "Sony only" application, but it's gonna be tough. Forget what you know, and get Noah's DVD and learn FCP from scratch.
