WHAT!?

if he had a 5k budget.... Why did you charge 2k? If anything, Rent a HPX2000, a grip package, ( more than 2 1k's....) and get a pro 35 with some superspeeds....

OR Charge him 5k to shoot the video since it "looks like so much more".....

That was a BAD BAD move man... you coulda have 3k more in your pocket.

hey tim chill out man, I am just getting started man, damn you are a greddy bastard, do you know how to read? I said that this video put me out there locally

uh oh, lol...

:violent5:

hey 24fps how did you get the gig in the first place? did they ask for a reel? i'm interested because i want to experiment with music videos too. this was only a day's work right? $2k sounds aight to me first a first time.

naaa I am currently updating my reel, the guy had seen some of the commercials that I have done and he just called me up and well that was that
it was 2 days work but I put a lot of conditions like places, catering, grip people so life's good

ohh one last thing mickey, do it man just go for it, I love music videos because there are no rules as there is with shots full featues or commercials, you can do anything you want, I think I saw somewhere on this site that someone said that a music videos is an editors playground, well that is the God honest truth, its very different from shooting a short or a commercial, I really enjoy it plus its fun and if you can make some money on top of that well you make the math :)

yea man i hear you but i am wanting to know how to get in contact with artists that have a budget to work with like you ended up with. that's the hard part for me.

now about the 35mm transfer well it was more of a suggestion for test purpuses that anything else, see the artist had a 5k budget
I charged 2 grand which I think is decent considering if was my first big project
and when push comes to shove the video holds a very high production value, much more than 5 grand, but after local artist saw some of this pics they immidietly wanned a video and of course I am going to charge much more than I did for this video so this video served me well that is why I dont think I got exploded, anyway out of those 3grand the artist used about a grand for wardrobe makeup etc. and since he had some money left I suggested a 35 mm I have been trying to do that ever since I did my first video back in the day with a dinky camera
here is the old thread http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=85560

Thats how I got my second music vid gig with a budget within a week of finishing my first no budget one I just posted. I know what you mean about being able to just come up with a concept and do what you want. It's great. This new one though is with a director attached so I will only be able to help with the ideas instead of all my own but its cool.

The grabs look great, good luck with the projects that you got coming in. I could just imagine how much the red in that club would be smearing with a mini-dv cam, the hvx looks sharp!

hey tim chill out man, I am just getting started man, damn you are a greddy bastard, do you know how to read? I said that this video put me out there locally now I am looking at much bigger budget thanks to taking it easy on this one as far as price is concerned

damn!!!!

Take it easy. Im trying to do you a favor. And excuse me? Greedy bastard? I'm trying to help you make a living and keep on shooting music videos. What you dont like food? rent money? you dont have to pay taxes? expendables? Maybe my way of conveying the message was a bit too realistic for you. But it was a terrible move. Plain and simple. if you have a budget you use it. You pay yourself first, then you make sure you get the job done to the best of your ability.

The internet doesnt include tone, so maybe it seemed harsh to you that day, but i assure you i got you with the best intentions in mind.
