Can't Record: HVX-MAC-DVI to Video

Can anyone help me figure out why I can't record the screen? I am trying to do a screen-video capture. I've tried the software approach ( SnapZ and Screenography) and neither worked well, the quality was not acceptable. The camera is in VCR mode. I can't record, though. Do I need to hook it up to another recording device ( another camera) to record the video? your help appreciated. here is a picture of my powerbook with a DVI to video adapter. I have it connected to the S-video port on the DVI to Video adapter.

Wait -- so you're in MCR mode, and you can see the image on your LCD, but it won't record? Either your cards are write-protected, or you're using the wrong record button (when in MCR mode, use the gray & red "record" buttons up by the thumbnail button). Hopefully that's it?

Actually, I could NOT see any of the LCD image when in MCR mode. so, I gave up on that and went to tape. your mention of the top record buttons did make me try that while in VCR mode and DOH, that was it.

whether or not this will be an improvement over the software options i was trying, we'll see. bascially, for macs there aren't many screen cap programs. I tried camtasia on a pc, but it didn't work for what I am doing.

thanks..but why didn't it work in mcr? hmm

i have to add that the screen capture with this method is very poor. worse than the software options by far.
