1080p footage in FCP?

i recorded some stuff around the city in 1080p24, but i just opened FCP 5.1.4 and noticed it only supports 1080pa24...should i be recording in 108024pa instead? is there a big difference?

Yes, if you're using FCP you pretty much *must* use 1080/24pA if you want to edit on a 24p timeline.

So if you want 24p and will be editing on a 60i timeline can you shoot 1080/24p (non-advanced mode) and have no issues? I was a little confused by your post, Barry.

Yes. If editing on a 60i timeline, use 24P mode. If editing on a 24p timeline, use 24pA.

You won't, at least not formulated like that. It's actually 1080i/24pA when you select it in-camera.
