Best place to buy hosting?

Lots of them are good. bluehost and hostmonster are actually owned by the same company, so I am sure they are equally good.

There are several threads on this topic too if you search around a bit.

You can also google "best hosting sites" or something like that, and there will be numerous top 10 reviews that will come up for the various host providers.

I use and love hostmonster. They recently upped their storage and bandwidth to 300gig and 3TB/monthly, respectively... and added some other features, etc.

Yeah I was looking at hostmonster and bluehost and it seems blue host offers more "serach engine" features but I dont know.

thanks jason.

I use 1and1.com - I've been happy with their service, features, and price.
On multiple occasions my server (through 1and1) has been the only one to remain online during spikes in traffic (such as new camera footage beeing posted) that have taken down all other mirrors along with sites like red.com and DVXuser from the load.

For $5/month, I get 2 domain names, more storage space than I can shake a stick at, and enough bandwidth that I have yet to make a scratch in my monthly limit.

I go with dreamhost.
$8 per month.
140 GB storage, 1.4 TB of bandwidth, PHP, MySQL, CGI, Jabber, and more.

Plus, They add space and bandwidth to your account each month.
I'm currently at 3.09 TB of bandwidth and 258 GB of space. So, if anyone ever needs to put their video up somewhere, I'm more than willing to create a temp ftp account for them to upload their video.

why does this question keep being asked? It's always the same question and always the same answers.

go with 1and1.com. I've tried them all and that's where I send all my clients now.

oh, and use the search function

I use doteasy. 9.95 a month. 20GB storage...Unlimited bandwidth. You can also get a free account there, but it's only 100mb, 1 GB of monthly bandwidth.

Bluehost is great! I use them for 5 websites. If you decide to go with Bluehost please use the following link to sign-up and DVXuser's Official Charity - Isara - will receive a $65 donation from Bluehost. Free. You can't beat that!

Fellow DVXusers: I come to you for help. $65 is a lot of money to my small charity organization (we took 100+ orphans to the movies for $50) and right now we're trying to raise $220 for a library. So I would REALLY appreciate it if you would help us out the next time there's a topic about web hosting (which is very often). Maybe just a quick, "Hey, if you're considering Bluehost, you should contact PK first." Every bit helps. And $65 is A LOT of bits! Thanks.

Thanks, MiniMan13. ...And your website pwnage.tv has been successfully crawled by our search engine spider. Your site should start showing up in search results next week. :)

PK... since they are owned by the same company as hostmonster (as far as I know) does that work with hostmonster as well? If not, perhaps you could see about partnering with them as well....

I love hostmonster, and would imagine bluehost is equally good.

I ended up going with siteground.com they offer 500 gb web space and 5 tb of bandwitch all for 6.95. Just have to get a good handle on joomla and everything else....anyone know of any good sites with info on building and customizing...

No problem. But don't let the different packages from all those webhosts effect your decision too much. It's all just fluff.

The funny thing about shared hosting (siteground, bluehost, etc.) is that their packages (300gb vs. 500gb) don't mean much because 99.9% of their customers never use it all. Webhosts always over promise and over sell (100+ websites on one machine). It's the nature of the business.

If everyone actually used 500gb of web space and 5tb of bandwidth the webhost servers and pipes couldn't handle it and they would go out of business. Same with Gmail and Hotmail. They can offer gigabytes of space because they know most users only need 50-250mb.

I'm guessing, for a new joomla website, you'll most likely only use 3-5gb of web space and 5-50gb of bandwidth per month. If you do require more than 300gb of space and 3tb/mo bandwidth then your site is doing incredibly well and your "shared" server wouldn't be able to handle it. Sites that require that much space and bandwidth are almost always hosted on "dedicated servers".

We use Joomla at Isara.

If you need any help, http://forum.joomla.org has a huge support group and they will answer any question you have.

Good luck with your site.

Thanks alot PK I didn't releazie the "fluff" method.. If that was the case I just would of signed up with yours...Damn. Well I got a year contract. Thanks for the Joomla link.
