Wedding Grabs - Ledson in Sonoma

EDIT:

Whoops. I could have sworn I put this in the dvx100 clips/grabs section. If a mod runs across this, could he please move it?

Thought I'd post some grabs from one of the weddings I just cut.

Also on my mind: I still think it would be great to have a wedding sub-forum...I know it was being considered at one point, but I'm not sure what happened to the idea.

Any mods out there in the know? Seems to be a growing number of wedding shooters on the board and I think a sub-forum would be put to good use.

Thanks Papa and William!

Yup, Derrick, that's the spot. I've driven by it a thousand times but that gig was the first time I'd ever been there. The building and grounds are pretty amazing, aren't they?

Great! I can tell you shot 24p

Very nice Colors!

It's a shame in the last shot with the dead white sky, a little blue would be nice

Good job

Gleb - No anamorphic.

Como - I'm not sure how you would be able to tell the frame rate from a still :) but it was shot in 30p, not 24.

You're right, it is a shame about the white sky. The shot looks great in the movie, but a white sky would almost always look better blue :) It was a bit experimental as I wanted the sun peaking through the trees, but getting to that low angle meant I had more of the white sky in my shot than I would have wanted. I still think the bride's silhouette works and is a neat image, but I probably need to look at adding a polarizer to my kit - something I've never played around with before.

Thanks for the comments!

I cannot belive this shots were made with DVX!!! FANTASTIC!Such a color! Looks like uncompressed 4:2:2 through Andromeda.

Gleb: Yes, the color on the dvx is amazing. I don't think I'll ever get over how beautiful the images look straight out of the camera (which all of these are).

Color correction doesn't even enter into the workflow for my weddings, which I can really appreciate.

Two of the grabs at full frame:

Thanks Smettli and bbalplaya! Glad you liked 'em.

gleb - You know, I can't remember whether I used Thin, Mid or Thick. I used to employ Thin all the time but ran into some flickering occasionally. I've gone back and forth over the last year....That said, this wedding was most likely shot on Thin, judging by the resolution apparent in the grabs with the table settings. The text on the menus is pretty sharp. I don't think it would be quite that sharp on Thick.

bwest - my settings are pretty standard:

30p
Master Pedestal: -5
A. Iris Level -3 (Everything else at 0)
Gamma: Cine-Like V
Matrix: Cine-like
