Mini-Vari's out on the town

So me and my buddy Jeff went out with our mini-Vari's and played around. I introduced him to the FRhack and of course he was gitty all night. I just threw a track down and the footage. So it is not really edit creative. Enjoy and comment.

It is the Frame Rate Hack. Allowing us to shoot what the VariCam Shoots. 2fps and with the 180d-350d (degree) shutter. Any feedback?

Did you use the firestore or P2 cards? Very cool stuff! I can't wait for my HVX to get here...

Well done!
Altough I will never get tired of speed ups of busy american streets at night, I´d really like to see another use for this in camera effect it (same goes for speeding clouds...)
But hey, it just looks cool!

sweet. so what is the frame rate hack and can it screw up your hvx in any way? how do i do it? i want streaks like that in my timelapse footage.

Thats cool. Could be sent in to one of those stock footage places. The colors were nice, were they tweaked at all?

okay so now i've read up on the frame rate hack thread. was all this timelapse stuff shot with a 350d shutter speed?

i think i'm going to do the same thing tomorrow night.

looks cool ...as usual!

and of course it wouldnt be complete without the signature reverse thrown in ;-)

Thanks for the feedback. I actually did some more stuff the following day. I am thinking I am going just put it up differnt, opposed to tacking on the this mov.

I agree I wish there were some other ways to be creative on this FRhack. I actually did something that wil mix it up some. So we'll see how you guys react to it. The cool part though, even though it has been done, the new goal is how to adapt your won style (mine I feel is cinematic) and then also do place no one might see otherwise, which of course makes it enjoyable to watch. (I think)

I should have the new video up today.

yea man that was awesome! The music fit very well too. When you're shooting timelapse video, to get more light do you slow down the shutter speed? Do you bump up the gain too? Is that how you got so much information? cause I know if I just take my hvx out and set it up at night mostly all I'll get is dark and grainy terrible looking footage. Also how do you do the rack focus over time? Do you just slowly adjust it by hand or is there a way you can program it to change focus over a period of time? Thanks a lot man! Once again great work!

Thanks Patrick. To find out more about how I achieved the light check out the thread form the begining. I tell how in the first post, but if you want to learn more SeanEmer put up a link to the FRHack. Check out the new thread I put up with the next nights footage. Intresting camera mount footage.
