I suck at life

Okay, since your mate has a car and pizza seems to be a recurring theme in a couple of the suggestions people are throwing out why not do a mockumentary about a "professional" pizza delivery guy - someone who takes his job really seriously (wears a suit and everything). The mockumentary format makes it really easy to shoot, and you can just sort of freestyle most of your dialogue.

Combining two common themes in this thread- A wannabe actor delivers pizza to pay the bills, on the weekends he tries to prefect his craft by making shorts with friends, however this one weekend one of his slacker friends told him he'd have a script ready and he does not the two scramble to write, plan and shoot all in one saturday.

Or ...

Or ...

One man, One car, One dilemma.

1. He picks up a hitchhiker, a beautiful woman (boobies), when the boyfriend steps from behind the bushes (old trick), and they both hop in.

2. As he exits, his shirt gets stuck in the door. The keys are locked inside. He can't move to get help. The shirt is maybe his brother's or Father's and he can't tear it or cut it. A few passerby stop to help, philosophize over the situation.

3. Two friends sit on a park bench to do word association, make comments as people pass. Large ass, stupid hat, bad hair, boobies. This leads to some problems.

I have some suggestive reading for ya,

As far as a quick ideas, pick up this book - The Writer's Book of Matches, it has 1001 Prompts to Ignite your Fiction...
Here are some examples;
A man is given the ability to go back in time and change one event in his life.
A man aspiring to be a pro bowler loses to his young daughter.
A teenager finds out that his father was a priest and his mother a nun.
Now this stuff can be used any way you like. It is just to kind of get your creative juices going. I suggest reading the Story by Robert Mckee or Save the Cat by Blake Snyder, Lew Hunters Screenwriting 434... and of course Syd Fields Screenplay...
Theses books will help you with structure, conflict and how to build a plot.
I also read a very entertaining book titled 20 Master Plots.. it was allot of fun...
Anyway, give some of this stuff a read.
You may want to consider the The Artist Way as well...
Just my 2 cents...
I know your probably saying, "what the hell have you created NC17z"?...

I'm still reading... and learning... and finally realizing that I'd rather have my Arri 650W Fresnel than my Redrock M2...

A narcissistic screenwriter who can't think of a good idea, procrastinates by driving around his neighbourhood and spying on hot chicks with nice "boobies".

INT. **** APARTMENT -- DAY

THECOMO, fat, balding.....

hmm adaptation?

A busty young actress is dejected because she lost a role for being just too...well, busty. Needing some friendly company, she rides along with a pizza-delivery-guy friend, and they talk her troubles over. At one point she sobs, are these *really* so big, lifting her shirt so her friend can make an informed evaluation. He crashes into a parked car which just happens to be in the lot outside the bar from whence issued the pizza order. Carrying in the pies, our characters walk smack into the middle of a wet t-shirt contest.

etc etc etc

just to take everyone's minds off boobies.

Never seen Adaptation, but feel the urge to see it after this thread...

First, some questions:

How old are you? Have you gone trough anything painful, extremely joyful, extremely sad? Or frustrating?

Base your script on that. It will be powerful, since you'll be expelling your demons. You can obviously say it with an analogy. Just make sure you know what you want the audience to feel.

Late at night. A man drives a car. A woman sits next to him in the passenger seat smoking a cigarette. She is completely naked. He doesn't look at her, he just drives, eyes focused. After two minutes of driving, he comes to a stoplight. She says, "Ok, you can look at me now." He watches as she takes the small, smoldering bit of what's left of her cigarette and crushes it slowly into one of her boobs. She moans. He gets aroused. After the cigarette is out, she blows the ashes off her breast. "Now, get out," she says. He opens the door, tosses a couple of hundreds onto the driver's seat, and walks off down the street. The light turns green. The streets are empty. The car doesn't move. The end.

Films that you don't get at first generally turn out to be the better ones. What's really fun is making a film that literally didn't have a meaning, but making it look as if it did. Then people get to watch it over and over trying to figure out what your message is while you break into their apartment and steal their DVDs.

In fact... that could be a good film.

A young filmmaker confuses people with his cryptic films and steals DVDs from them while they are busying trying to interpret his message. One day he is confused while watching one of the DVDs he has stolen and doesn't notice a burglarer enter his room.

Go with it from there, haha.

mikko and stefan those are such great ideas
i lawled when i read stefans... might use that one day... and of course id credit you

Great ideas are the hard part!

Great ideas are the hard part!

You do not suck at life just because you are having problems thinking up an idea! A great idea for a film is always the hardest part for me on a project.

It is hard to write even a short script idea if you do not know the basics. Short films are even harder in way because there is no room to wander.

I made a step-by-step storytelling engine perfect for you and your friends and it is free. Try doing it together as a game. You could even use some of the ideas suggested by others on this post such as the pizze delivery one.

Check out the 94 minute "Writing A Great Script Fast In A Nutshell" and you should get lots of ideas fast! It is at www.myflik.com and was made just for people like you.

Happy filmmaking!

Well thats easy, get high
I assume you're speaking of cannabis...
