Okay, as you may or may not know, WhiteWood has a tendency to be heavily critiqued on DVX User. Some don't like the quality of my productions, Some don't like the editing, some just don't like me personally. But in the past year, I've come a LOOONG way. I think that I'm finally a black belt at the DVX and I'm ready to move on to a better camera. Any issues with the quality of my footage, I blame completely on my computer and software. Anywho, I type all of this to introduce the contrary. While DVX Users BASH my work, the net fans LOVE it worldwide and WhiteWood's fan base is growing at a crazy rate! I present to DVX Users my new video (Late as hell), 'Crank Dat ArmyBoy', A music video mock to Soulja Boy's 'Crank Dat Soulja Boy'. Because of this video, I am now in talks with Kel Mitchell (Keenan & Kel; Good Burger) about working together! (I'm a big fan of his). Sooo... without further a due, here ya go:

sorry.. but this was just not.. not good..

why don't you try using the zoom a bit more.. and try to get some nice DOF footage..

when I see stuff like this I think: "Dammit.. people just buy the DVX and won't learn **** about it.. and just automatically think their footage will be great because they have a good camera.."

I want to look at the positives. You did try some camera moves that werent bad, try to build on those. Try different zoom levels and open the fstop. Use your ND's to drop the exposure to keep the fstop open and shorten your depth of field.

A few spots of over exposure. Use some reflectors to brighten the talent on the exteriors so you can have some more flexibilty with exposure.

Very funny crank dat amyboy!!
Spideman dat hoe!!

Just too funny!!
But on a serious note this video should of been a night scene video with alot of close up!

Hard to make out the dancer's face- that's where u gone wrong.
Close up on dancers!!!

Dude. I agree with Tommetass, i think people see other work and think if they buy a 24p camera or HD camera then that changes their filmmaking and garantees a better image/product. Same thing with people that buy 35mm adapter, it's not a damn novelty. At the end of the day, i've always said this to people, "it's not what you have but what you do with it" I'm considering selling my DVX because i've had it for almost 3 years and have over 300 hrs on the heads...that's coming a long way lol. You have a great camera, but not great creativity or eye, maybe i suggest not doing video production anymore? I see you have a "record label" now...Hmmm...i could decipher while wasting 3 minutes of my life watching that video, what was worse, the audio or the visual. I think it's a mix of both aka VISUAL VOMIT! But i do have to congradulate you...I do think it was a great concept, clearly the concept was to match the amatuer crappy quality of the song...you clearly were successful with providing a crappy visual.

um. maybe this is stupid, but it's a joke right? like the song was a parody, and not just terrible, and that this was just a joke. like an SNL commercial, right?

Apart from the academy award intro speach to this clip, I would definately say that this video is meant to be a spoof on rappers. And it sure looks crappy, and therefore it was kinda funny. The insane choreografy on the female dancers was pretty funny as well. "waterhose that ho" :)

WOW, I mean, I was expecting negative comments form everyone, but this one takes the cake. I've heard all kinds of things, from suggestions that were over explanitory and made absolutely NO sense (Like the one from that Asian chick on PG.1), to just flat out 'didn't like it', but THIS guy, lol, this guy suggested that I not do FILM anymore. WoW.

For everyone that doesn't know (Forgot I'm dealing with a bunch of white people) This is a MOCK MUSIC VIDEO. To a VERY CRAPPY SONG, I'm trying to assist in the ending of his career. So if the song sucks....DUH!

don't take this the wrong way, i mean no offense, but why spend/waste your time doing a mock music video? trying to end someone's career?

why not create something positive?

1- I say a bunch of White people because they're the ones that never have heard of 'Crank Dat Soulja Boy' and go 'Am I suppossed to be laughing... Crank That what?' everytime I show them this video.

2-Over 3 Million views on MySpace and 1 1/2 Million views on YouTube is why I mock music. People like it, networks like it, and I'm looking for the right call from the right man that can launch my career (Look up David Lehre)

3-"
hey

Whitewood LOL

Shot us another music video!!! the music was hot dude!!"

Sarcasm?

Whitewood dude I didn't even see the video b/c my computer is acting up. But it seems like you want approval from the users here. That's not what you should be doing post the video and let the comments roll in.

The users here do not and cannot tell you whether you're going to be successful. Yes you have a great camera but it's not the camera it's the person behind it.

Keep shooting it takes a while for you to get good at your craft you well never be 100% the best b/c you're always going to give 110%

A little advice watch MUSIC VIDEOS 24/7 and learn shots, movements, and further more hire a dp if the budget calls for it. But don't give up your career b/c of a few comments that wasn't critque friendly.

And for the guy who told YOU to give up filmmaking, well I have no comment. LMAO!

Take that for what it's worth and keep shooting.

Who cares what people think anyway they're not signing the checks the record labels are.

LMAO as I'm getting ready to cash one.
