Coke Vs. Pepsi "we've Got You Surrounded!' Commercial

Just thinking in a way you've already made a spot for them... posting it on youtube...

Hey free commerical for them...hopefully they'll see it and like the spot and pay you for it...

I'm lost...

this is either a pepsi commercial where they take over the coke,

or a commercial where coke takes out all the pepsi. Personally I think you need to explain more if you are really trying to shop this...and not host it on youtube.

Hi DJ,

It says to be continued at the end...which ever company decides to pay me will win the battle. I'm also shopping the ad to other beverage companies as well. I'm glad you guys like it.

Please forward it to all your friends.

Rich

I am trying to not be rude, but I really would not shop this yet.

my thoughts...
The camera push-in is shakey.
The lighting is plain.

How is one going to take over the other? Stop-motion photography? 3D? bottles on strings?

Most often, major brands don't show their competitor in their commercials, no matter if they are trying to make them look worse.

how does one beverage beating up another beverage make you want to buy that product, how do you tie it in?

that's true. especially because if this ends up being a pepsi commercial and a coke-lover sees it, they're still going to see those coke bottles and be like "mmm i want a coke now."

I respect your feedback but this commercial isn't about the camera movement or lighting, it's about creativity and storytelling. I know how the story ends and trust me it'll make you wanna go out and buy a Coke or Pepsi. Ultimately, it'll end up becoming an animated commercial if they like it and pay me to complete it.

The problem is right now there's nothing to compel either Coke or Pepsi to pay you. You're basically telling them that the best part has been saved for when the check cleared. I think you need to put your best foot forward when you're doing these kind of pitches.

If the ad doesn't work as a tv commercial, it'll certainly make an impactful billboard ad for Pepsi. I liken it to the bully [Coke] getting bullied and the witty slogan is quite memorable.

BTW, thanks for not killing the female actresses in your flick! Add me on myspace!

Exactly.
No story.
Vague concept.
No idea what you are pitching.

Make the complete ad and shop that.

Saying "whoever pays me to finish it wins the battle" presupposes that some soda exec's ego will be threatened by the idea that they might loose a spec ad they won't even understand.

Your basically pitching "... the concept that you have no idea what it is or if I can execute it at all ... is pretty darn sweet. No really. Just make that check out to ... "

You've said about as much earlier, "trust me" it will be good. You can't pitch "trust me".

You are a guy that pushed in on a coke bottle surrounded by pepsi bottles in flat lighting. That's it and that's all you have to pitch. Your great idea is 100% irrelevant because you aren't pitching or demoing it. Just teaser that gives no hint of the throughline of the ad or tone or anything.

Now if this is supposed to be some viral thing where tons of people are supposed to watch it on youtube and it gets lots of attention then, then you are thinking Pepsi or Coke will pay you to finish out the ad in their favor because a lot of people are watching it then:
1) it's not interesting enough to become viral
2) if it did, either company could make a response video in their favor without paying you a lick

maybe you guys got the link to a different video. I saw a shaky camera pulling in on a shelf of soda then slapped on YouTube.

i don't get it.

maybe you should make two different endings and then send the respective videos to each company?
The finished product will be an animated commercial with two endings. I appreciate and welcome all constructive criticisms because it's valuable in raising and maintaining my performance standards.

what about a 30 second spot where a guy says "remember when you were a teenager and your friends said 'dont drink mountain dew, it lowers your sperm count?" and then it pans out to the guy at an adoption agency with some angelina jolie child and says "it's true!" then the pepsi logo.

Derrick, when are you shooting it? I can't believe I'm blogging!
