Would this tripod setup work?

I dunno about the sticks, but the head is great. I love mine. I have mine on the wilderness sticks. You would also need a bowl with the Libec you posted.

NOOOO
Do not get these sticks
i just finished purchasing a new set of 525mvb bogen sticks after my pair of the ones posted above LITERALLY fell apart. No joke i had to duck tape one of the legs to the bowl holder due to both screws coming out. I also have to duck tape the lower legs on 2/3 of the legs due to them not staying in place.

Do not get these sticks you will regret it.
I bought their sticks with head included and it has forced me to upgrade due to how bad their products are, it was a $300 waste.

And to add to the confusion, I have used those sticks in the past, owned a pair for 2 years and never had a problem with them. They handle the HVX just fine.
YMMV though and I have to wonder how much weight kjcdude was placing on the libec?

I found Libec to be a reasonable cheap tripod, it is not anywhere near par with the millers, satchlers, or even vintens of the world, but they offer a good price to cost ratio.

All that said, Libec is the cheapest tripod I would ever trust an HVX in, and if you can afford better, then get something better.

I was using a dvx100b on mine.
not sure why it fell apart on me but it did.

KJC - Bescor and Libec aren't the same. The legs look remarkably similar, but I know that my Libec legs hold up quite well with a decent sized camera on them (roughly 10 pounds), and have never had any troubles when used out in the field. The top female bowl and the area around it is metal, so not sure how screws could shear out of it. The legs I have are the one-stage version of those that you posted (T58 instead of 68).

I do use the LS-22. It's a bit small for my camera, but it works quite well with most other cameras I've tried. 9 Pounds really is the top limit for it, at that point, the counterbalance isn't that effective, though it's certainly better than none. It does quite a nice job though, even at pretty long focal lengths. Is it a true fluid head? I think it is, but everybody seems to have different definitions of it. It's smooth as butter, and works as well as most other tripods I've used, so I'd consider it good. I know it doesn't have a friction drag adjustment. (no drag adjustment actually)

Thanks for the input. I like the ls-22 plus it comes with a bag and controller. What else do you have attached to your camera that adds up to the max 9lbs? The weight limit is the only thing that kind of bothers me.

I have a bigger camera (DVC-60), which has a high center of gravity and weighs 7 pounds with no tape and no battery, it has a shotgun mic on top of it, a quite large battery on the back, and a relatively heavy quick release plate setup on the bottom of it, and depending on what I'm shooting, I velcro all the boxes I need for inputs and outputs to the back (most of the work I do is event and sports, where I sometimes need to provide feeds). All told, roughly 9 pounds.

I use the dvx100a and plan to have a diy 35mm adapter, shotgun, rod system and maybe the cinetactics matteblox. I think that shouldnt be much weight.

I might step up to the LS-38 if you're going to be using it with a 35mm. Those things add some pretty serious weight, especially with a rod system. I'm far from the expert on this though, so maybe someone else can give you better advice. I just know that what I have works for me.
