Best desktop monitor for use with DV Rack?

Which are the best desktop monitors, which are adapted to be used as a field monitor, using OnLocation [DV Rack HD].

The system is this:

HVX200 - > PC Laptop [with DV Rack HD] -> 2nd [larger] monitor attached to the laptop.

We're currently using a rented 24" Dell 2405 UltraSharp monitor, but we're considering buying one of our own.

I believe the Dell is pretty good, but what would you advise on such a purchase. What are the other options in this price range?

The purpose is the same - OnLocation workflow with a laptop and external HDDs [which is a very good option in my experience].

Thanks in advance.

A lot has ben posted on the Dell, most agree it sucks for displaying video footage (noisey...)
Samsung 24", BenQ 24" and the Macs cine display usually get good feedback...
Do you want the 2nd monitor hocked up to your laptop or to the HVX...?

Dropping to the 22" size range will allow you to get a monitor with better characteristics for less than the 24" size. I don't think you'll miss the extra 2 inchs for a field monitor.

I use an inexpensive KDS in SCRT mode. Unbelievable for DV Rack use. The 2ms response helps.

I also use it with my MBP for the FCP edits. It appears to be representative of the final output on DVD

But maybe the full HD resolution for 1080?
Otherwise I´d just stick with the laptopscreen if displays at least 720p...

You can get a good 22"with 1680x1050 resolution...which matches the std MBP 17", which seems to be the max for that gfx card.

Most PC laptops (which is needed for DV Rack) integrated displays top out at about 1280x800 (some may do 1440x900); however, my Gateway PC laptop says it can go to 2048x1536 with the external KDS 22".

I just set it on 1680x1050 to match what my MBP does when I get to the edit round. It makes a really big difference over the 1280x800 laptop screen for focusing HD.

The 2nd monitor I'd use with DV Rack only. There will be no direct HVX200 -> Monitor connection [I read that it sucks in this case], but one via the laptop and DV Rack.
