Looks beautiful. I'm wondering if you could hint as to how you made the shot that goes underneath the rock bridge in the ocean. It looks like a composite, but it still looks tricky to put together. Did you interpolate between multiple shots?
Nice sky replacement of time lapse clouds on real time footage. Looked really good.
I also really liked the motion graphics for the Chris Sharma title. Did you make that yourself?

It's amazing how much talent is out there. I loved the trailer. Nice editing, great color. Did you shoot 720p (I assume so since there was time lapse). This had to be one h*ll of a shoot (I can't even imagine what you had to go through!).

hey man that was great! i think i would probably buy your documentary... you had some really sweet shots!! and that was all shot using the HVX200?! it would be great if you could talk a little about the challenges you faced and how you decided to shoot some of those shots the way you did. And if you wouldn't mind revealing your workflow a little that would be great as well.

MC that was truly FANTASTIC !!!! What did you do on that movie?
If you DOP'd on it what where your settings on the filmic looking shots?
Brian/Someday it looks like two projection maps in a 3D program, one from the front angle and one from the rear. You can take the video footage or a matte painting and project it onto rough or well done geometry and with enough projection angles you could run a camera through like that in one go. Motion Blur always helps to blend any problems in the projection to geometry. All lighting is already in the video/stills/matte paintings that are projected onto the geometry which makes for a faster render and it looks realistic!
It isn't as easy as it sounds, but when it's done well then, OHMYGOSH, does it look great and MC that shot in particular looks FANTASTIC !!!!
If you step through that sequence one frame at a time when you come out the other end you see that the rockclimber is cut out with some rocks on him. When played back at full speed you don't notice it.

The project was produced by Josh Lowell of BigUP productions. He and I have been making climbing videos for years separately, and this is the first big project we've worked on together, along with Peter Mortimer of Sender Films.
I was a cameraman on this shoot. Josh and Peter edited with a few other folks, the compositing was done by a third party. Its been a year and a half in the making, and it is scheduled to tour across the US starting sept. 5. We're all proud of the movie and hope it catches a broader audience than just climbers.

MAN.. That's some AWESOME footage. Love the opening and just has quite a pace. I'd like to buy this one for sure. I am not a climber but I love climbing vids and books and this one looks SUPERB. Could you post a link to purchase or a schedule for when it's touring the country.

Brah that is SICK!!! Excellent work. I am not a climber but I will say that you can hook a huge audience with this one as long as the narrative is tight.
