New DVX Paranoia

I just got my dvx100b. I think all of us are a little over cautious with it after first receiving it. My question is when I felt my camera forward and backward I hear a part inside the camera moving. I sounds like light plastic...just wondering if anyone else has the same issue.

Its totally normal man. All DVX's do that. I freaked out when it did it when I first got mine too.

No worries.

There is a Technical Dept for the DVX 100. Read the stickies.
In general, use the SEARCH function before the ASK function---it is your friend!.

even my DVC30 does that actually, i think its something to do with the tape deck / transport system.

You didn't even suggest the infamous flashlight, paper clip and ball-peen hammer fix? This place is getting waaaay too tame.

well I assume that the clicking noise on my XH A1 is the OIS, maybe it's broken!

So which is better? Super glue or cement? :)

i personally would go for J-B weld. the following is straight off their website.
AUTOS, MOTORCYCLES, MECHANICAL

  • fuel tanks
  • radiators
  • cracked engine blocks
  • transmission & rear-end casings
  • cylinder heads & sleeves
  • generators, starters, water & fuel pumps
  • axles & hubs
i have personal experience with this stuff too and i can tell you its basically just as strong as a weld. :)

You're hearing the mechanical moving parts of the OIS.
Any camera that has OIS as opposed to DIS is likely to do this.

These questions used to be more fun, but we got a cease and desist request from Panasonic due to the large number of customer service calls they were getting from people who had been instructed to wrap their camera in aluminum foil and bury it in the back yard over night, etc, after having been told to do so by DVXuser members.

No way did that really happen? or did i just get suckered to ask this question?

Yeah it used to be a right of passage, how long we could keep newbs going with claims that they had just thrown their money away on a broken gray market DVX, or how many ridiculous things we could come up with to suggest they try.

Then Panny asked us to stop because it was generating customer service calls.

Oh well, fun while it lasted.

Search "clunk" or "the clunk" and maybe you can find some of the old threads.

Sometimes stuff is not around due to server upgrade, in which case if you search for the terms + DVXuser in google then it sometimes will direct you to old threads that you can't find anymore via the DVXuser search engine anymore.
