I just updated to 5.7.2 from 5.2.4

When I start Avid it stops at initializing audio and says
"Exception! Unable to initialize Audio Hardware"
then closes...any help?

Its a system through Boxx Tecchnologies

The Motherboard is:

SUPER MICRO X6DAE-G2

Dual Xeon 3.0 GHz processors

Video Card is: Nvidia Quatro FX1500

Audio Card is: Realtek AC'97 audio

Won't start software since I updated to 5.7.2

thanks for the suggestion, i tried it a couple times, still nothing. 5.7.2 just doesnt work. it cant even get through installation now when i try. I went back to 5.2.4 and it works fine...

it was because of your sound card. i had the same problem. i bought a sound blaster audigy and everything is going fine in any version. it dosen't like the onboard card.

1. hey how much is that card?

2. isn't the card i have on Avids site as compatible? it works with 5.2.4 fine...

Also make sure that your have a suported graphics card with the right version of drivers... I know, why the graphics card for sound? But I had this problem in the past and it was my driver version for the graphics card.

I had the same problem with my on-board AC97 sound. Avid wouldn't work with it. I dug around in my parts bin and installed an old Soundblaster 16. Works like a charm. It has something to do with keeping the video and audio in synch.
