Is this a crucial missing component to the 100B? Alot of people tell me without this you cant achieve the full cinematic or film look. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that both include 16:9 Letterbox and 16:9 squeeze.

The B even allows you display squeeze correctly.

The 100B has the same options the 100A does. The 100B also has the additional capability to "un-squeeze" the 16:9 image on the camera's LCD, so you can compose your shots in the proper aspect ratio.

Barry, I worked on a show recently where the camera ops were saying that they preferred the A over the B. Flip out isn't as good - blurry unless you're switching a peaking switch on. Sound man complained of static on "Live" input, Colors aren't as rich, etc. Any truth to this?

ive seen what you mean as far as colours not a rich, did a short with a DVX100a and Dvx100b and the A definelty seemed to have richer colours with the exact same Scene Files, far as sound static goes no compaints on that but i definetly noticed the colour difference. Not to drastic but i noticed Richer colours in the A.

The flip-out LCD is definitely inferior on the 100B vs. the 100A. But other than that I'd say the B is better than the A in just about every way.

The B's headphone port is hissy, but the recorded audio is clean.

Sorrry for my dumb question, but what do you mean with 'flip-out LCD'? In which way does this affect to the quality of the recordings? Why Panny's manufacturer let this happened?

It has no direct effect on the recordings (although the argument could be made that it would effect the recording if, for example, you thought something was in focus by looking at the LCD and it really wasn't), and probably to save money. :)

Thank you Captain Pierce.
