Where to buy audio equiptment

trew audio, coffey sound, location sound, B&H (last resort), fullcompass has some good stuff. I only say B&H is a last resort as while they have lots of stock their customer service has always left me high and dry and they arent really known for their knowledge in audio. Fullcompass isnt strictly audio either but I like them and they have some decent prices and good customer service. Trew is my first stop when online shopping though - www.trewaudio.com.

thanks a lot!

any idea where to find a Audio Technica 4043a? all I have been able to find is a 4073a.

are the 4043a and 4073a comparable?

oh ya, a hyper.. duh

If you are not sure if you want a hyper or a shotgun, hold off on buying until you know for sure.

I would go for the akg bluline with ck93 hyper cap over the at4053a if it were me... or even an oktava for interiors and the 4073a for exteriors.

Don't worry, we can spend all of your money before you know what happened!

So why is B&H a last resort? I don't get the dissing. I order everything (AKG Blueline, SD302, boompole, etc) from them and it's always the cheapest price with no fuss. Those other companies (Trew, Gotham, etc) always piss me off because they won't just straight up give you the price, you have to apply for a quote and then they want to talk to you. Damnit! I know what I want, just ship it to me for cheaper than anyone else will! B&H does that.

I use B&H almost all the time -- no problems ever. Trew is good also as well as Location Sound.

I've used B&H before and had nothing but problems with their customer service. I'm fortunate enough to live close to Hollywood so I usually get my stuff up there (Coffey Sound is great). Like others have said, B&H also doesn't know much about audio so don't expect to get quality advice.

In that case, B&H could work (assuming they ship you the right item). They've sent me the wrong thing twice now and it's like pulling teeth to get them to fix their mistake, which also required me to pay for return shipping. I guess I'm spoiled being so close to actually go to the store. I got my 4073a before I started on this forum based on the recommendation of someone at Coffey. I was able to listen to multiple mics right there in the store and opted for the AT over the NTG1/2.
