My latest demo reel - have a look

I think it's alright. I think you could use only some of the artists in the beginning. I would concentrate on some of the more special stuff you do. I think I saw a shot with some kind of stabilizing device. If so show a couple of shots with that.
Think about adding titles: interviews, slo-motion, documentaries and so on...

Right now your stuff looks good but I think any average shooter could get most of that footage. Show stuff that is different and unique to your style.

Here is a link to my friends demo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evm_F445-sE&eurl=

Hope this helps

i think if it went any faster i would be too dizzy to reply, lol.

the music sounded like something that was made in soundtrack pro or Acid.

the shots were random to me. i didnt get a feel for what your goal was. it just seemed like a lot of point and shoot stuff.

it wasnt bad but i agree with what someone else said about it any average shooter can get what you've posted. i only looked at about 30 seconds of the 'new improved' version and it didn't seem much different.

age is nothing but a number man. keep shooting.

You might want to think about your final export. If you shot most of that footage in 24p/30p then keep the video in Widescreen and progressive. The whole video is filled with interlaced when someone moves or any action. Drive me nuts seeing that..... Over all it's good, and you Get your point across. (referring to teh 2nd updated , re-edited video)

I looked over the video and am not seeing the interlacing. Some of the stuff for broadcast was shot interlaced, but everything else was progressive. Are you viewing it blown up on a CRT monitor?

I did do this project in FCE rather than FCP. A lot of the clips were on DV tape
and I can't get FCP to capture DV, while FCE easily does it.. Looks like FCE exported in DV format- maybe I'll go back and redo in FCP.

Here are jsut a couple. I am using a couple Apple HD Cinema Display's

If you shot all widescreen, why export as a 4:3?

I think you need to work on composition. Most of the shots did seem 'point and shoot' at the object and put it in the center of the screen with no angle or perspective. Which makes it look very bla. like the cats. Why is that an interesting shot?

The shot of the young girl in the beginning is nice (an angle other than front on), along with the railroad shot (deep perspective).

Use the Rule of Thirds.

I spotted three single black frames on the first version, and there is at least 2 in the second version you posted. I would zoom in and fix those. I would definately pull out the cat shot.

It is tough on here sometimes, but we all get our brutal turn as we post up here. Keep up the work.

Cat shot is gone in the 2nd version. Funniest home videos liked it, but I realized it doesn't belong here. Most of the on center shots were shot for a music industry news program and producer wanted subjects centered. Most other shots were stock shots and I composed them the way I wanted. Thanks for the comments.

By the way, the "young girl" at the beginning is a well known country singer.

U would want it, along with 4:3, when shooting for broadcast television, as all the music industry footage was. If the client says interlaced, I shoot interlaced.

Pretty much same comments as others here. My fav is the end with the time lapse and "stock footage" section. Seems somewhat disorganized to me, like I am not really sure what each shot is supposed to be representing.

and yes......please deinterlace that 60i footage....it sticks out like a sore thumb.
