News Story on me

That's the Fort Worth Star Telegram, I use to live there. Been to the Reunion too, basketball games, concerts, circus, etc. Cool. Okay, found the link, finally, you know, we use to set up obstacle courses when we were kids and jump over things, pretty much the same thing. I remember hurdling over our backyard gate and jumping off the roof of our one story home, hey, I was just a little kid, I wish I still had the strength in my ankles in knees for that.

Well, parkour has been coming over to the U.S. forever... never caught on too much. Skateboarding and bmx biking are much bigger here. I've watched some pretty amazing parkour videos a few years ago, with some nice French hip-hop music, got me interested in the music :)

And good job Andrew, nice that you can dedicate yourself to something and get a lot of benefits from it.

To be honest though, impressive as the chase scenes were in Casino Royale, the most stunning parkour performaces I've ever seen were coming out of Russia. Unbelievable stuff, it made it seem as if these were not humans, but some kind of Spiderman creatures - it was like watching a superhero movie. I've never seen this equalled anywhere, not even in French videos (where parkour origninated). It seems like the Russians are (or were, I haven't followed parkour for a couple of years) the absolute masters of this, with nobody even coming close.

I tried finding some old Russian parkour videos on youtube, but no luck... the closest I've come is this freerunning video of Dvinsk Clan - doesn't get going until minute 2:00 (good French music though!):

Still, it's not even close to what I saw a couple of years ago. A friend of mine came back from a trip to Russia, and he had these amazing parkour videos on DVD - unbelievable. Inspiring stuff.

congrats, that's some pretty cool stuff, definitely would be handy for stunt work, but on the other hand calling this a sport is wack (no offense)

rcbrown23, the soundtrack is as follows:

1. Clubbed to Death - Rob Dougan
2. Si Triste - Le 3ème Oeil
3. L'esquisse mixtape promo sampler - Keny Arkana
4. Belsunce Breakdown - Akhenaton
5. Ending piano is from Clubbed to Death

I used to do that when I was young but we called it running from the cops....maybe that is what parkour means in French

Andrew, how would you recommend one start learning parkour without seriously injuring themselves?

Or is that not possible?

I'm curious. I think its an incredible art form.

Thank you all for your support.

Chris F: It's considered more of an art/discipline like wushu or taekwondo
DVX-Ben: You can just start trying it, but don't go beyond your limit and slowly progress. Learn to land and roll correctly first.
