Looking for a little brother for my HVX-200...

I'm going to do a bunch of quick little 10-15 second video clips (non-critical music video type stuff for teenagers who aren't too critical of quality) and I'd like a video camera that an employee can use without having to touch my HVX-200.

The following are my criteria if any of someone could provide some guidance:

1 - Standard Def is fine...we don't need HD.

2 - MAIN goal: record to SD cards so that we can pop it out and pop it in a PC card slot.

3 - Biggest SD card possible...is 2GB the max???

4 - Hopefully, the camera would record directly to a format that is directly readable by most standard consumer-level editors...ie, MPEG, AVI, etc.

5 - $500 to $1000 is fine.

6 - Almost all shooting will be done inside under good lighting...halogen/tungsten, etc.

7 - btw, if there is something else besides SD or P2, that is a card, I'd be fine with that...no DVDs though.

Thanks guys.

interesting...I just found a few camcorders that record onto either SD or Memory Sticks...some that are even HD, all for $1100 or less.

The snag is that I can't tell if it saves the files in a format that is acceptable to most editors/players...ie, Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc.

The end result is that I need to have an employee easily read the files into a program called Muvee...it's a very basic template-based program that makes music videos...very limited but actually pretty good and VERY quick and easy to use.

...so...still searching for a card-based camcorder that writes files acceptable by most software.

Canon HV10 or HV20 should do the trick... Great in daylight and studio light.. just be wary of low light situations... Otherwise it's a nice little HDV Camcorder..

I am looking into those cams too. What about the new panny that shoots to SD cards?
Any results?

I have a hvx200 and also bought an SDR-S10 for those situations when you can't or don't want to pull out the big gun.
First impressions so far are pretty good.
small picture: 704x480
outputs .MOD files (MPEG2)
I've been using ffmpegX to get the files into something recognizable to fcp.

maybe this: http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/12005/sanyo_xacti_hd2/ might interest you if you haven't seen it yet. 720p @30fps I don't know much about the format it shoots, the previous model came bundled with an editing/dvd authoring package apparently, I don't know if this one comes with it, but the footage can be read by imovie. Also the dock has hdmi out, so if you have a hdmi deck or capture card you can choose the captured format.
