Corrupt P2 footage: Yeah, another one. Not on Mac though.

This wasn't importing to OS X.

On the card, the clip itself is gray with an x through it and says that it's 0:00:00 in length.

All I did was stop recording on the jib. Dunno what happened here.

Any thoughts?

This is what I get if the camera loses power during recording or if a card is mistakenly ejected during recording. Either you or whomever was operating the camera may have screwed up or there was some kind of power glitch during your shoot.

Put the clip back into the camera and try to repair the clip in the MCR mode. Sometimes it works.

Good luck,

Dan

A Gray X indicates a Proxy File, which you can't even record with the HVX.

Copy the card contents to your computer and see if the sizes of the MXF files make sense. It is possible that the Proxy File type is being picked up from the XML file, and if that is the case, then it should be possible to salvage the clip. Try dragging-and-dropping it into Edius.

Correction: It's a Gray "P" not a Gray "X" that indicates a Proxy File. I'm not sure what you are looking at there, but I would still try to copy the file to your PC and dump it into Edius.

I tried to import to FCP and it throws an error for FCP. I think it's this crappy battery that I got from someone who forgot to give me my REAL Pana batter back.

Fight time.

Good thing this didn't happen on a real shoot.

I will try to repair, thanks.

If you want to see if I can salvage the material, let me know and I can swing by and pick up a copy of the P2 card contents on DVD.

man this just saved my butt

MCR MODE, SELECT CLIP, OPERATION / REPAIR CLIP, BINGO, WHEW :2vrolijk_08:

Saved me a week ago too when the camera as on AC during a shoot and lost power momentarily while rolling. Repair clip really works.

Saved me too! Somehow we got a corrupt clip (I'm assuming mixing SD and HD on the same card) but it turned out to work again.

Whew.
