i'm shooting a music video for a local band but want to keep it reasonable on my budget..I have a few Alien Bees lights but only an 800 and a 1200watt..not sure if I should add to them somehow or try something different in general..just need some help on the shoot overall...its really just something for the band to have and for demo reel purposes but I obviously still wanna get it right without breaking the bank...thanks much for any input.

I'm using:
-DVX100a
-Final Cut Xpress 3.5

lights and location. that's what i say. but i guess it depends on the band and what their genre is. if they just want a demo reel shoot, blow them out of the water and come up with something fun and original. Everyone will be better off. A basic demo reel shoot for you maybe gets you some basic experience, but while you're at it, set them up in a cool or unusual location and use it. Not that I'm an expert, but it's worked for me.

Good luck.

thanks vern..looked at ur site..youre a trip. Hey, you got any advice on portable light kits?..or does anyone out there?..looking for something cheap thatll still work..are those Victor lights worth anything?..victor smith i think is what theyre called

i don't know anything about Victor. I don't know much about much. Seriously. I've heard (and once used) shop lights that you pick up at home depot. Personally, I'm saving for an ARRI 4 light kit. I figure, why waste time and money on anything but the best. some will say a lights a light. Probably save me time and money in the long run.
Although, I hear china balls with splitters inside and dimmers work great... I think there's some links on here for recipes...hmm...

hey thanks vern..i really appreciate u takin some time for me on this. I saw some of your work on your hobo site and it was floored..are u using the dvx100a also?...do you recommend any 35mm adapters..is it necessary?..i just dont have alot of cash flow on this but its for a pretty well known band here and I dont wanna screw it up..i'm getting too old to make too many more bad choices.
