ha. its funny you picked up on that. when i first wrote it , it sounded emotional. which is why i edited it before i sent it. i didnt want it to sound emotional at all because i am not emotional about it. but i couldnt re-write what i was trying to say without it sounding like i had a strong opinion. so, i just clicked REPLY.

I am dead serious. I am torn. I resect that rule tons. I just dont quite know how to follow it all the time while getting what i want in the lens. But, I am not saying my eye is better. I am just saying that there are times i hurt pictures i think by being fixated on the rule. other times, i hurt pictures by not considering the rule. its a double whammy. its tough. I should probably do a bit more studying because i have a feeling that rule is applied differently to different subject matter. who knows?
 
Lol PT and RLM. You crack me up. Check out the pic I posted in the nikon forum. I got a Nikon SB-600. With that said it works as a wireless strobe light so I can place anywhere in the line of site of the flash of the camera. Awesome little Do Dad!

Did you crop it?
I would cut the space on the right side and give it some space back on the left side. That would be cool.
 
Yes. I think what makes it so blue is the lining of the pool. I remember posting a picture a week or so ago from the same pool and you commented on how saturated the colors look...but that pool is really that blue. I tried playing with variations of the color scheme...partly de-saturated it...completely desaturated...to me, the original was best because I like the rich colors.

Actually, the pictures of the girl is the original framing. I usually snap shots with head and side room so I can crop later but this one I snapped it with real tight framing. So, I've got no room to alter. But I agree with you...ideally, there'd be more space to the left of her. I actually wish I had the whole fork in the shot as well...

Reading to lions

I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd share a few of my daughter (big surprise, I know :)). For some reason she's obsessed with lions right now. She even asked if we can get a real lion to keep in the backyard when she gets older. She also loves pretending to read to her lions and was extremely excited when she found the animal section of the library. She checked out almost all the "big cat" books they had.

Here she is reading to her lions (and a few dogs) at bedtime:

nice composition and the soft gradient in the sky makes it perfect!

Thanks! The second one does look a tad overexposed on my end, but the rest look okay. But it could be my monitor, too... might be a bit on the dark side (I'm at work).

The lens is the Canon 24-70 2.8L. The light is from 1 alienbee 800 and built-in reflectors (her window shades). Both are new... so I mainly set this up to learn how to use the light and get used to the heavy lens.

And as always... I enjoy the cat pictures!

Those are some great photos too. The detail and colors are awesome. And, I've said before, adorable kid.

It's funny, because I can see some similarities in your shots and my shots with respect to the color rendition and detail of the shot. I totally think its that L series glass. I don't know about you but I am absolutely IN LOVE with that lens. Worth EVERY penny. I have the 70-200mm 4.0L but I would love to get that 24-70mm. How fast is it? Mine is sorta slow but that is why I use it almost exclusively outdoors. Great for daytime! But yes, great quality pics CR. And what a cutie...

Oh, which B&W are you talking about? So I know what I am doing right? I think depending upon how big your monitor is we have a different number of pages and I have a few different B&W?

Nice pictures and I have to say nice lens that you are shooting on also. That cloud cover looks awesome. All pictures very nice and sharp. I messed with the cloud cover a tad if you don't mind. Here it is! I am not that good at photo shop, but I am doing laundry so I wanted to mess with it!

those are very nice photos saftyO. And, I like what filmgizmo did with the clouds. that shot is awesome. How those clouds bottom out in a straight line like that...almost doesn't look real.
