"I'm going out to shoot a doctor" - what do you say?

My company is doing a lot of ENG shoots these days and we've come across a rather interesting conundrum: What do you say when you are going out to shoot someone (with a camera that is)?

Coming from the TV industry that is the proper term - to go out on a shoot or to shoot someone. But we've slowly realized that standing on the SkyTrain or in line at the bank talking about shooting people isn't the best idea. So what do you say instead?

to film someone sounds waaay too pretentious
to tape someone sounds like you're working in radio (and a "taping" sounds like someone is recording you)

we're at a bit of a loss here. anyone have good alternatives or should I continue shooting my subjects?

Try showing up at a high school and telling the people running Checkpoint Charlie that you're there to shoot the teams.

You could use the ambiguous "videotape" even if you aren't recording to tape. It gets the point across...

"Hi, I'm here to videotape the basketball game" = no handcuffs. :)

just had this conversation the other day as we had showed up to shoot the president of a company... we settled on "film" even though we never use film it sounded cooler than "videotape"

A couple of the awkward ones:

"We're here to shoot the pole dancers."
"I only got one good head shot"
"Can we shoot the customers or are they too busy"
"I'm just going to shoot a couple of the kids. It won't take too long"
"You can't just shoot everybody"

and my favourite:
"I shot the nurse - she wasn't too happy with it"

there are more but I'm working

There are so many ways to say it. Some sound funny, some don't.

"We're going to steal the soul of the President right now. Is that OK?"

"We need to capture these people, if they're ready."

"I need to image you."

"I'm going to record this."

"We're grabbing some shots when you are ready."
