Shooting off of an lcd TV

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can suggest some settings or tips for shooting video game footage off of a flat screen LCD television. I've done some tests, but found the colour to be a bit off and the contrast somewhat high. It's important to maintain the quality and look of the game as much as possible, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dont do it.

Shoot a blue screen TV.
Plug the video game outputs into your camera and record it directly.
Key the blue screen out and insert video game footage.

The problem is this isn't really in a 'scene' or anything. The tv will never be shown. This is for a promotional video which will be shot entirely in HD, and I have no access to any sort of tool to get the direct HD footage off of the system.

Is this a console or a PC? If you are using a PC, use FRAPS to record the video and audio with no loss of resolution -- WYSIWYG.

Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 doesn't output HDMI, unless you have the new "Xbox 360 'elite'", but I don't think that's out yet. Can't you route component cables from the 360 into the HVX, and then out through firewire and capture on a comp? I always do this, but not HD, and with composite RCA.

No, the camera can't digitize a component video signal, it will only output it. Hardware that can do that isn't cheap, either.

You may have to settle for recording a SD S-Video signal using the Intensity or something like a Canopus ADVC box, and uprezzing that.
