I found out about the contest so last minute so we scrambled to get it done in time. We finished the last shoot the day before the dealdine so did an editing special efx marathon. We finished 30 minutes before the contest was going to be over..and unfortunately there were major server problems. As of this moment, our submissio is still in limbo. anyways..we had a BLAST. We bought the make action films for cheap book..and my friend implemented the muzzle flashes and blowback action.

I'll post more as soon as I find out about my submission status.

very nice.
i liked your attention to details, like the muzzle flash reflection in the sun glasses.

good work.

So did you do time remapping in After Effects? what's the whole process in doing so? I've always wanted to put that kind of effect into my films without making it look choppy (due to the framerate)

Yes. What tripped me out was that I did not overcrank during filming. It was shot in 24p and time remapped in AE. I will post the process later tonight. Interpolation is the method that alleviates the choppiness.

After shooting this project, I am envisioning a crazy gun sequence that is ramped fast to slow..to fast..just like the one scene in 300 for my next project.

Awesoooommmeeee. That was so sweet!

Was there sound to it? I couldn't here anything.

Anywhoo, great job. SLICK!

No sound. However, I am waiting for the status of my submission to be updated. If they accept it, you will get to see the full video on myspace. Although it is in lower res, we have no choice due to contest rules (we can't post anywhere else). If our submission doesn't get accepted, I am thinking of offering more footage for people to check out. I am thinking of expanding the storyline with more shooting to make it into short film for festival submission.

Either way, I have more deleted scenes that I would like you guys to check out. So keep an eye for this thread. I have some more sequences that should interest some of you.

My friend did the special efx work and he is meticulous about detail. Wait until you see the other scenes. It was amazing..considering we had fake guns that had zero blowback action. Thanks for the props. He'll be thrilled to know that other people can appreciate the little details.

some nice slick-ass ****!!!!!!! looove the heat signatures the accompany the muzzle flashes!!! oozing with style!!

thanks for the kind words. We learned alot from shooting this project. My own personal dream at the moment is to do an indie film that has the same excitement, original style and flair of pulp fiction/el mariachi.

Would it make a difference if you shot in 24pN or 24p?

I knew that Shake and Motion can now do that... but damn, I can't wait to read how you were able to do that, cuz I'm a huge fan of slo-mo. 300 and Matrix sequences are just crazy.

Nice use of VideoCoPilot Action Movie Essentials for the guns effects and AE 7 time remapping for the ramp. Now the HVX really feels like a Varicam. I love what you did in this shot.

I don't think it makes a difference 24pn or 24p. But here is the tutorial we used:
http://www.videocopilot.net/videotutorials/timeremap/index.htm

they have incredible tips..

and we also bought the action movie series effects as well as used some elements form the "make action movies for cheap" by stu.

great tools out there.
