Turnover of the HVX

So I've found a used HVX I might buy that's been used a lot since its been bought (beginning of 2006).

I know the DVX has a turnover rate because of its tape heads... think 1000 hours?

Since the HVX doesn't have any moving parts, what else is there that would cause the HVX to be shipped for regular maintenance?

Thanks!

About $5500 Canadian for the used HVX...

It has moving parts for SD recording only? or does it have moving parts (that would eventually need repair) during HD capturing to P2?

Thanks

Essentially and for the purpose of this thread, the moving parts are the heads for recording SD DV25 to MiniDV tape. But I venture to say most people aren't using the HVX200 to record to MiniDV tape, at least not much. Capturing to P2 cards in DVCPro50/DVCPro100(HD) is a process that involves no moving parts.

One thing to consider would be the wearing down of the P2 card/camera connection (pcmcia?), there was talk about it here that depending on how much you`ll change cards, the connection will break after some time...
Can someone clarify please?
Barry?

Someone over at DVInfo brought that up shortly after the HVX was introduced. My (not to be relied upon) recollection is that Panasonic had tested it to something in excess of 30,000 insertions/extractions.

So basically, most of us will be dead before you'll wear that out . . .

Live long and prosper!

You're paying too much for a used

I just paid under $5500 for a brand new HVX 200 from a local dealer in Maryland.

You may want to keep looking around.
