Got a small job for somebody... any takers?

-Add a null object, Objects->Null Object.

-Set the coordinates to 0,0,0. Type those in the Position text boxes in the Coordinates manager, to the right of the Materials manager.

-Delete all of your current camera's keyframes from the timeline, or delete the camera and add another one, setting it's coordinates and rotation to 0,0,0.

-Drag your camera into that null object so that it is a child of it.

-Right click on the camera object in the Object Manager and add a Vibrate tag,
...Cinema 4D Tags->Vibrate.

-To animate the camera you have to animate the parent Null Object instead.

-To add shake, click on the Vibrate tag and in the attributes manager play with the enable position, enable scale, enable rotation settings.

-You can keyframe those settings the same way you keyframed the camera before using setkey.

//Are you getting hooked yet?

Well.... it's still rendering :( After 8 hours it's only at frame 150. I rendering in 720 with 4x4 anti-aliasing, motion and vector blurr, and I changed that render thing from 1 to 2. I got like 200 more frames :( This takes forever! I want to mess with the camera shake so if it's not done by the time i get home from work i might just stop it and mess around some more :) This program is pretty amazing, although it makes me want to get an 8-core mac. haha.

Well, you could cut down on render times by doing alot of that camera shake, motion blur, and other stuff in post, infact its faster in post, also you don't allways need high settings to get good results, its knowing how to use the settings effectively.

But yes, render farms is what high end production companys use, if you have a few old PC kicking around and if C4D allows network render then thats an avenue you could go down.

Mo'blur is probably what's killing your render times...it basically renders the same frame 8,16,32, etc times depending on your settings.

I would render out multipass and moblur in post.

In C4D, do you need both regular and vector blur? Seems like you should only need one.

And with C4D and Multipass, isnt there also some kind of handy output feature that creates an After Effects project with the animation already in the composition and just ready to get tweaked? I dunno if it is a plugin, but thought someone here mentioned it. I'm not having much luck with Google.

.

Yeah, but if you did camera shake in post, wouldn't you have to make the animation slightly larger than your frame size (composition size) so you didn't see the borders when it moved? Then again, doing motion shake inside your compositing app means you can put it where you want it, and can refine till your heart's content. So there's something to be said about going that route for sure.

Well... here is a frame i rendered of the project so far. I cut out the pause near the end and just extended it all the way back but this is pretty close to full quality (minus the motion blurs and it went from a 3meg bmp to a 100kb jpeg).

-brock . Nice & smooth. Looks good.

Right, you don't need both blurs. Any or all can be used depending on the effect you want.

C4D has an option to output an After Effects file found in
Render Settings->Save...Compositing Project File = After Effects.
It also handles files for Combustion, Shake, Motion and Digital Fusion.

Cool, thanks. And yet another reason why it's such a great program.

I have got go get away from lightwave and start Using C4D Switching apps though is a little daunting.

-brock. Can you step through your rendered frames and see if you see an image like this?
This was taken from the original cam sequence and happens around frame 30 so your seq will be different.
There is an artifact there that appears to saturate a polygon only it is not a polygon because the res is much higher.
It happens for about 4 frames and also reflects to a lesser degree to the lower left corner.

I have a simple fix but want to check first before discussing that, thanks.

/Also, while I'm here, I set the antialiasing filter to Still Image. Video requires that you trash your high detail to a softer image (ughhh), as much as it hurts us to watch that happen(especially the dvx100 but less so for the hvx). But you can do that in post for your final vid. I'll give you the details about that when you're ready.

//Also I tried the shot your doing and found the big splashing was missed due to the cam being in front of it. Try rendering another seq to a different folder with maybe the cam positioned at the mouth of the flow pointing towards the back of the tube, then cutting in that in post. They do that all of the time with explosions from different angles.

Think of it as learning yet another program. I still have to learn AE. ugghhh.
The concepts of 3D are ofcourse the same. I merged from 3dsmax, after a few months on it, and only went back to max when I had to because of time/knowledge restrictions. After a while I was free from it. Not that I dont like it, or even Maya, just that C4D was written in a way appears to be object oriented. I can drag and drop almost everything into a heirarchy and understand the logic flow. The more I get into it the more I'm amazed at how versatile and powerfull this program is.

It's the most intuitive program for me that I have seen.

Haha, yeah... it happens. How was your alls 4th? It poured here in KY for like 4 hours

Anywayz. So raptor, here is what i'm trying to do. When entering the syringe i'm trying to keep the camera at a steady speed all the way through it, and when i cut to live action i'll use Twixtor time remapping to keep the pull matching the same speed as the CG. Right now though the liquid doesn't come out until i'm close to the end of the tunnel. I tried to change the particle delay from -100 to -50 and nothing happened. Is there something else i have to change? Also, do i add motion and vector blurs to the actual objects on the right, or just go into the render options and add it in there to the whole sequence?

(We dont have a 4th. We have 'Happy Canada Day' around the 1st :) Same thing though.)

You cannot change the speed of the flow itself because it was already
rendered in RF4. The particle flow animation is 250 frames long.
But you can change where/when the camera starts and ends or
change the start/end points (frame offset) of the particle animation.

1/ You can change the camera start and end points
2/ You can set the Frame Sequence Offset for the particles and particle mesh.
-----------------
1/ -Change camera:
If you drag the the animated camera's first keyframe, in the timeline,
to around frame 100 so that the animation starts there (comes out at F105). Then render from frame 100 to frame 350 and ignore the first 100 frames.
At 24p thats still a hair over 10 seconds.
----------------------
2/ -Change particle animation offset:
To change when the animation starts flowing out the tube you
need to change the Sequence Frame Offset for both the
Real Flow Mesh loader object and also for the RFPaticles node found in
the XPresso Editor. Both settings have to be the same.
So click on the RealFlow Mesh Loader object and select sequence tab in the Attributes
manager and set Frame Offset.
Then click on the blue icon beside the particles object in the object manager to open the XPresso
editor, click the RFParticles box and in the Attributes manager set the offset there also.
Setting to 0 means the flow should begin leaving the tube about frame 5.
-50 means about frame 55 ect.
Don't forget the animation will end 250 frames after it starts.
---------------
Blurring:
Object blur does not work with particles.

a) Scene motion blur- blurs the scene as seen by the camera.
Add a Motion Blur Tag to the camera.
(Right click on the Real Flow Mesh object->Cinema 4D Tags->Motion Blur)

b) Vector motion blur can blur the mesh.
Add a motion blur tag to the Real Flow Mesh Loader object.

-You will also need to add the Vector Motion Blur and or Scene Blur to the Effects panel
in Render Settings and make sure.'Enable Post Effects' is checked.
It takes two passes to render Vector Blur to the image (does automatically)
so don't panic if your watching it render.
I tried the default Vector Blur settings and saw some blurring so that's a good start.
----------------
To speed up test renders for the motion blur you can
disable the 'inner shell' object in the object manager by setting the
two little dots to red. That object is the inner glass that has alot of
reflection calculations.
You can also set the Render Settings-anitaliasing to Geometry.
Then render single or 2 second runs and check the look.

Hey, i dunno if anybody is still on this thread but i was wondering if anybody could give me some pointers and suggestions on my movie poster. I welcome all criticism and would greatly appreciate your alls opinions. I did this at work today:

It's not bad. I would put the two top pictures closer together or on top of each other. Right now they split my attention when looking at the poster which is annoying.

I think it's cool. The photoshop (I'm guessing) work is good. I copied it to my desktop and opened it in a photo prog so I could see it full on my screen and I think jade is right. It is a little distracting on the eyes. I did I web search in image mode and typed in Movie Posters and looked at tons of them.
In all cases the eye is drawn directly to the name of the movie. Exactly how you do that I don't know.

Maybe try the less-is-more thing. Maybe try only one photograph, like the bottom one and eliminate the top two. Move that up the screen. That would give more space and maybe make the name standout more. Maybe bring up the Title a bit so it does not bunch uo with your names. Other people around here know more about that stuff than me though.

//
I just did this real real real quick...
(I'll take it down after you've seen it.)

How's the rendering going. Still at it?

10x better than man, lol. I like that one. I don't know if 2007 should be emphasized that much though, if that's what he wants. Maybe drop the year completely. Siniarch, I wish I could think like that, haha.
Anyways, brock must still be working...
