It's amazing what all is shot on dvx's...

When i was in L.A for Star Wars Celebration 4, I was interviewed by spike tv( My film was one of 19 finalist's in the Fan Film Festival), and I was so shocked to see that they use dvx100a's. Then i researched it, and so many shows are shot on the dvx! I know the fantastic Doc. Murderball was shot on a dvx100a.

So, now I'm curious, what else is shot on a dvx?

Everything, like you said. MTV uses them all the time. Seems everytime I am working with them there are 1 or 2 DVX's floating around.

Really goes to show what a powerful camera it is. It really keeps me from moving into the world of HD, knowing how much good work is still done on this good old horse.

MTV here uses DVXa's and Sony HD, most of the new shows on one of our local cable channels use DVX too

Your reasoning is sound.

I've got a couple of HD consumer cams -- a Sony HC3 and a Canon HV20. And also my DVX100a.

Under the right conditions, HD image quality is stunning.

But HDV is a pain to edit. Render times stretch out into eternity. And once you edit & render it...what do you do with it? Distribution options are limited.

I've thought of switching back to my DVX, simply because of the editing ease and the great image quality.

I'm in London and its actually not particulary well known here ! I often get "what camera is that ? I've never seen it before". It is fairly well known across Europe though I believe, I often see it in action at European press launches and the like.

I know in South Africa MTV use it and a LOT of music videos have been shot on it.

I love the picture quality the camera gives. And I haven't even got deep into the scene settings and files yet really. I also have magic bullet but haven't delved too far as yet.

As far as DVCams go, I don't like using anything else. Although occasionally fiddly, its all about manual controls which I like. I do wish it had auto sound at time. But as Benny said, what a powerful, amazing cam it truly is !

Correct on AD - the DVX was used sparingly for dream sequences is what I've heard, to create a softer image. Main show was varicam though.

softer image from the 24p AND the adustable frame rates which is something not many cams in the DVX price range offer

I was just in London shooting some stuff at the Hard Rock Calling festival and got alot of possitive feedback and jealousy from the camera crews who had to roll around w/ 2 people, a huge shoulder mounted BetaCam system and tons of sound and lighting stuff

I love my dvx :)

And an incredible show it was. I get frustrated whenever I watch the dvds and realize that it was too smart for Television. American wants to watch Reba and BS like that. They don't want an incredibly written cinematic half hour of genius.
