so im shooting a music video for an up and coming rock band with a dvx100b.
I'm looking for the settings which will make the video look most like other professional mainstream "MTV" videos. high color saturation, contrast, and very sharp image?? Im assuming i should start off in 24p and have played with the settings but wanted to see what you guys think. any ideas?

Most of what you are looking for is accomplished with great lighting and a competent DP and crew. There is no magic recepie of settings that will give you that look. Personally I would start somewhere around

+1 Chroma
-6 Ped
Cinelike Gamma

But it's all personal preference. If you want it to look really good, go out and spend an afternoon shooting stuff with different settings, write them down on a note pad and then play with them in post. Watch them on a production monitor (or at least a TV) and see what you think comes out best,

thanks. you are right about having everything else in line, but i have been shooting mainly with the sony z1u so the dvx and all its settings are a little new to me.

thanks. you know i had actually already seen that thread and thought those settings were some of the best for the look im going for.

High shutter speeds (1/250 or even 1/500 if you have enough light). if you get a decent look going to tape, use your favorite post tools for color grading a signature look. hopefully you have upgraded to final cut studio 2 because color is the most amazing app i have used for creating a killer look. i now just shoot a neutral look on set and use color to get the final look.
