uploading music videos (what size MB is too big?)

i'm curious what general MB size DVXusers use to upload videos. I know everybody has different jobs that require different quality, but specifically i'm talking about music videos here. Obviously is has to do with bandwidth and people's connection speeds, but beyond that, is there a ballpark number anyone uses. Is anything over 30-50MB unrealistic? Here's some vitals:

I'm shooting with my HVX. I used the P+S Technik adapter and some Zeiss primes, (but not the adapter for all jobs, some with stock lens) and i'm exporting with either Compressor or Sorenson.

For my music videos, so far chosen to go with dimensions of 426X240, and I have a really good version exported in Sorenson at 35.5MB.

Now, do I force people to watch only that version, or offer a multitude of choices: low>med>high and different kinds of media (QT>Flash)

Obviously, more choices gives people options if they have slow connection speeds, or if companies have T1. That way, the slow connection could watch a small flash version, or that company could watch a gnarly 150MB version and never have to wait.

Not sure which way to go.

I'll appreciate any feedback, from novice to expert.
I think how we deliver the content we work so hard to get is an important part of the picture.

Thanks!

everyone. bands with no money, bands on majors, agents, companies, etc. I don't want to dis-include anyone. But my question is more directed at what you think and how you do it. And other DVXuser members.

there really are no rules. the 426X240 youve chosen is a good "catch-all" size not too big for slower machines, not too small for the power users. i guess you could offer various sizes. thats always nice. but i wonder if its just a lot of work for not much end value...

i prefer h.264 because IMO, they look the best. i generally output a 3min h.264 at 400x225 30 fps and it lands at around 20megs and looks great for web use...

the downside is that still about 15% of the windows users dont have the quicktime player required to see them. but its a free player.

flash is probably the most browser friendly option. but it takes a bit more work to create and deploy them.

sorensons are pretty safe.

id avoid WMV as there are a lot of mac folks who cant see those.
also avoid real player - thats a dying format.

its all a sliding scale - you cant be everything to everyone

I generally prefer to go as large as possible, and have ended up with 920x480, H264 QT, key frames every 150, medium quality, frame rate set to current, AAC sound at 32KHZ stereo 128KBS with prepeare for streaming checked. This is done by exporting using QT compression, not in compressor.
I got a 5 minute music video in a 43 meg file (video was B&W though).
