Firestore AND P2 workarounds fcp 5.1.4

I have had my first problems ith the FS-100 (not the v.3), but ALSO with P2 from 8gb cards: spanned clips will not play back in the p2 import window, and only by using two different workarounds have I been able to get the clips from the Firestore and the P2 cards into fcp 5.1.4 (See: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=78488&highlight=firestore+5.1.2 for the workarounds)

Anyone with experience in solving this glitch?
Is it possible to record from the firestore into fcp as a lifesaver? -Tried with either capture and non-controllable device or connecting it as a HHD, but couldn't make it work.

No. Firestore cannot play out when connected to Mac. It is only a transfer device. Yes... the MacOS and P2 issues have been quite frustrating. The one thing that I have found which works best is to make certain that the Remove Duplicate Frames box is checked OFF.

Thanks Ned, What has worked for me is a combination of that flag checked/unchecked and moving the clip files for those clips that follow the furst part of a spanned clip. Tedious, arrrgh, but the worst bit is that you feel you can't trust your recording media. Not very comforting. Wonder what fcp 6 will be like.:2vrolijk_08:

The recording media is fine. The problem rests with either FCP or with OS X. I have seen the finger pointed at both. Since this does not happen on a Windows platform from either FS100 or P2... well, draw your own conclusions. And this is from someone for whom Apple is the true religion.
