The Most Horrifying HVX Footage Ever!

Yeah, the whole thing was at 60fps.
It's amazing to me how even on the brink of disaster, the HVX does a great job :)
It kept focus pretty well until it hit the deck.
Maybe if Panasonic ever does a commercial on how durable their cameras are, they can use that footage :)

Even with insurance covering everything, nobody wants to ever drop their camera.

Thank God its OK.

Actually, seeing this makes me think (for what I do, which is hardly pro) no camera is worth seven grand.

Maybe the FX-1 is the way to go... but I'm holding on to my VX-2000 for now. I guess there's really no comparing... Its the best for low light, but I still wish I had 24p...

Insurance!

Insurance!

Oh man, I didn't get it at first, then I realized what was happening. I've been putting off putting my HVX on my Homeowners insurance, no more. I'm giving my agent a call first thing on Monday.

dude, once it clicked what was happening, i was like, "NOOOOOOOO!"

did u get any footage of what it was that tipped it over? at the end it looks like there's a person walking away, but its all blurry.

...looks sweet tho

yeah at least it fell on thick grass and had the fulcrum of the tripod to dampen the fall... it would have been truely rated R if it had fell off the back of a pickup on the street..

yeah, sounds like it turned out ok, wish i could say about some simmaliar footage with my dvx.

A friend and I ran out of gas on our way moving out to LA, and had an hour to wait til the AAA guy showed up... so we were like let's bust out the camera, and chronicle this event...
Worst mistake i ever made...

wow... that dvx drop looked painful but atleast it's just the dvx and not the glorious HVX... lol/ jk.

I had an assistant drop my GL1 and it ripped off the front of the lens completely from the camera. It was an accident but seeing as how we did it at my kungfu school... I made him put on the gloves and I kicked the crap out of him for a few minutes... Seemed only fitting..

Ok, it took a few days, but my vision is back. That really is the most horrific footage ever shot on a HVX!

I have a DVX that did a nose dive into a hard wood floor. Actually a step on a very long flight of stairs in a reception hall. I think it bounced to the second step when I caught it. Worked the rest of the day just fine! But the memory, oh lord...

Oh, think I need my heart pills again...

All the Panny prosumer cameras seem really robust. I think it's that loose piece that 'clunks' when you turn it on, I've had both a DVX and a DVC30 take a spill in a shoot, focus was absolutely gone and seemed irreparable. After turning off and on to no avail, I had an idea and just shook it hard enough until it 'popped' back in, focus was fixed. It's like an internal crumple-zone, it takes the licking before something really breakable does:)

However, on that note, n8ture, CHECK YOUR FOCUS RANGES. My HVX took the tinyest of impacts a few weeks ago and seemed fine. But I found out later the focus marks were slightly off and all my footage the following day turned out soft.

That was brutal. "Look for more parts, is that a part?" ouch!

But one thing I found that was strange. If you step through the frames of the camera as it starts to fall theres a couple of frames in there with what appears to be a guy wearing a hawaiin shirt with a window behind him. CREEPY!

lol I love JESUS and my HVX... but I love JESUS more than my HVX... but I take more care of my HVX than my relationship with JESUS... Get it?

Cheers,

PS. don't drop that again. it hurts

The horror.
Happened to a dvx i rented once too. (not in Germany,...)
The dvx was sitting on the tripod on a beach,
a gush of wind, and it fell on the screen. The connection between the body and the screen got broken. No insurance over there. I did however sent them a new connector and the camera worked fine after that.
Lucky you !!
