Canon user thread - post your pictures here

Right, that´s some sick sh**.

In my case I only desaturated and increased the contrast. That was basically all.

well, im not sure what he does to achieve his look. Some of his homeless images are great...crystal clear...very contrasty but bright at the same time....

That tutorial is awesome. Thanks for that. I am definitely going to bookmark that and try to follow the steps this weekend!

Papa

Papa

Let me tell you! Our school has some of the sweetest equipment available to the market. But what an intensive program. 1yr. and 9 months is what it takes to get your bachelor's degree from this school. Let me tell you, it has been the best thing I have done. Even though it is really not that important for a bachelor's I still get all of the hands on experience before I enter the industry. I love Camera Department so this school was perfect for me.

Not only have I worked with the gear shown: Ive worked with Sony Cine Alta, Sony Studio Cams (the ones that Jay Leno just bought for his show, we had them before they did)(the serial numbers on the cameras are bellow 20 and somewhere around $600,000 pieces), Arri SR3 Advanced and HighSpeed, Arri 416, Arri III, HVX200, JVC Broadcast Cams, many miniDV and HDV cameras. Ive also worked with Avid Media Composer Adrenaline, and after we get done with our feature Avid Media Composer Nitrous! WOO HOO I LOVE THIS SCHOOL. I cant even list all of the lighting equipment I have used.

PaPa what school are you attending?

A couple more...

The colors in the first and second are great... especially in the second.

The third I would consider as being art. :) Good job.

Thanks man. this trying to take good photos-$hit is hard. Ha! I spent 90% of my time tweaking my settings to really get an understanding of the capabilities of my camera and my lenses.

Every once in a while, your picture looks like you imagined it would. But man...its tricky. But, loving the process. This site, obviously, is a HUGE help. And, I am using the link you left the other day to learn how to really smooth out the skin tones of a portrait. So, thats been a ton of help...

Well, the smoothing of the skin looks awesome. But the other steps are missing I suppose. Are you going to continue this?

Yeah, not really sure where I am going with this.

I smoothed his skin and I paid close attention to his eye area...did some dodging and saturated the colors a bit. Other than that, the picture really isn't that interesting. Its more for PShop practice I guess. I don't really think there is anything more I can do to it to make it more interesting.

Okay PT...you got me curious to see how the other half lives. I have been playing with the other end of the spectrum and seeing what it is that I personally like about desaturated colors...I think I might just explore this a bit...

Looks very experimental.^^

If there wasn´t so much grain it would be fantastic though. Maybe you should also try not to desaturate completely. Otherwise it looks like b&w.

And, heres one with no grain. I don't know...the extremely sharp image with clean lines doesn't really do it for me with this pic...

Yes, I do know what black and white is. ;)

But I mean the yellow one looks like b&w with a yellow toning over it if you know what I mean.

With desaturating only a bit, good effects can be achieved as well. But that´s your decission, of course.

Btw: I REALLY like the sharp image.:)

Yes, I do know what black and white is. ;)

Hahaha! Yeah...I wasn't being a smart a$$. I just figured it was hard to spot the b&w without a reference to compare it to. So, I misinterpreted your comments.

I'm just really trying to A) submerse myself with the camera and Photoshop to find my own preferences. B) learn. grow. C) Keep this thread alive!!!

So thanks for the dialogue. I don't know where the others have been hiding? Papa? CR_OPSO? mikkowilson? Sharky? etc. Where are the rest of you Canon users?
