Why Won't Quicktime Maintain Aspect Ratio in My Web Browser?

So i'm desperately trying to post my first piece of footage from my HVX...i've exported from FCP and upon opening the .mov in Quicktime, I find that the aspect ratio is just right. However, after uploading to a server and attempting to open the movie in a web browser, it's coming up 4:3 and squished! What am I doing wrong? I tried searching this topic, but couldn't find anythng related specifically to web broswers, so sorry if this has been answered already.

While i'm at it, could someone point me in the direction of the best settings for posting good quality but reasonablly sized hvx videos on here?

Thanks

Your best bet is to not rely on the decoder to handle non-square pixels correctly. Always output something like 640x360 using square pixels, that way it can't get screwed up.

It's also a good idea (when possible) to actually place the movie in a web page (with the correct dimensions, the color background you want and so on. You upload this page to your server and provide a link to the page. Then you'll have an idea of what the viewer is seeing whether they use explorer, safari, firefox ect.

You can also use IWEB if you're on a mac. (but excessive downloads will cost you)

The other annoying thing is whenever I try to export using the letterbox setting (for youtube) it always seems to just squish the image rather then adding black bars. Maybe the square pixel solution will fix this as well?
