Calvin Klein contest - Shot on dvx100b/24p!

Hey guys, I just wanted to bring your attention to a video contest over at www.whatareyouin2.com - I entered a video into it called "A New Sudan"

It was shot on the DVX100b and was cut in Premiere Pro 1.5 - I'm very proud of the film and would like you all to check it out some of the other ones in the contest. Naturally, I would request that you vote for mine ;) But since I just love film as film, please, vote fair for all the others as well.

Anyways, it's over at www.whatareyouin2.com and it's called "A New Sudan"

I felt it undoubtably had quality, but came off rather... trite. It felt a bit like a commercial for PBS, which is far from bad, but I think a more visceral retelling was required for a more serious effect on the viewers, especially with the potentially heart-wrenching tales of the situations in Sudan. Perhaps the next IN2 film?

Still voted for it though.

Best of luck to ya.

I would work on exposure and the fact that all the dutch angles in the beginning are all exactly the same. Other then that good job.

And that site is horrible, where flash design gets in the way of easy navigation and functionality...

I'm sorry, I thought It was really whack, close to 0 diversity in the shots, and I didn't understand why the camera was so unsteady...and that girl's eyes looked like they were about to pop out...Whats the point of putting them in front of a green screen if your not going to chroma key? Keep trying...

For some reason I couldn't edit my post so here is part 2...
...this was something I saw and said "Uhh, thats too bad." Try and do something original, be creative, what makes this better or more informative than those "quick brief headlines on the side of a newspaper?" Nothing, although I prefer the newspapers because they are more articulate and they dont give me a headache...I think its a cheap shot at getting a sympathy vote for those suffering in darfur...also, please try and pick a less cheesy font/synthesizer loop at the end there...

Can you still enter than? You should have locked your exposure setting.

it's funny. this was the first short i ever shot on the dvx... wasnt even mine.

i'm VERY aware of all technical flaws in the film... well, at least i think i am. the iris was running on auto and i regret it to this day.

believe me, it's amateur to the core. first time i had ever even WITNESSED 24p on an lcd screen.

thanks, though guys! lol
i shot this a long time ago (when i was in HIGH SCHOOL!) and recut it a bit for the contest.

I keyed about half of the shots, man!! Anyways, it was an artistic choice to go half and half. (just like showing the other camera in the shot)

Thanks!
