"The Viewing": A Horror Short Trailer shot in New England

Garyin is right, the voiceover is very melodramatic and overdone. From the footage in the trailer and the "synopsis" from the voiceover, this doesn't necessarily sound like a "bad" horror movie, but between the voiceover and the writing, there's nothing about this trailer that will make a viewer want to see this movie.

For example:

"2 weeks later,
all of the victim's
parents viewed their
children's last moments...

...on video tape."

"On video tape? You don't say!" is what I thought after hearing this. Whoever is doing your voiceover is trying way, way too hard and is straining his voice, and it's more obvious than you may think. Like Garyin said, this trailer presents the movie in a satirical tone, which I don't think is what you wanted.

You have Robert Blake from David Lynch's "Lost Highway" as your avatar - if your film is influenced in any way by the work of David Lynch, it is clearly not being expressed correctly in this trailer. I'm assuming you directed the movie and also cut this trailer. Have you considered having someone else cut your trailer?

Ok, yeah the voice over is definitely a gag. We played the trailer with the VO at our school's most recent film festival for a bit of fun. Let me give a link to the trailer without the VO.
