Record uncompressed 14-bit (4:4:4) on your HVX200

Hello,

About the Canon XH-A1(/G1), as far as I know it uses the same CCDs as the XL-H1 which means they are interlaced. Andromeda/Hydra pick the data straight from the front end so this means that we would be recording uncompressed interlaced data only, and would have to come up with a scheme to deinterlace the footage. Given how these cameras work this does not take quote the quality toll it takes on 60i cameras, but it is still not true 24P. For this reason it is more probable that we are going to stick with 24P native cameras, but then again it all depends on demand.

We expect the Beta program for Hydra will take 2-3 months, as many aspects of the system have already been heavily tested with Andromeda. The Beta program is mainly to test those new areas such as the Gigabit ethernet hardware interface and software.

Cheers,
Juan@reel-stream.com

The XL2 could actually just about equal a Hydra HVX as the native CCDs are quite close. Actually, a PAL XL2 would slightly exceed the HVX as it is 960X576. That being said, I doubt the demand is there but it would be nice to tweak out a cam with interchangeable lenses...

No, it can't. Not by a mile. The XL2 doesn't use the same spatial offset technique, so there's not the additional sampling sites to sample from.

Taken as an aggregate, the XL2 has a native 960x480 imaging block. The HVX has a 2K imaging block.

But when will beta start?
If Hydra will indeed ship Q4 as said here and beta will take 2-3 months, beta needs to start now. (?)

Let me know if ya need a beta tester... Intel MBP and HVX ready to go!

...How I anxiously await the day this mod becomes available for the public...

Sorry if this has already been asked but there have been over 400 replies to this post---anyways, my question is: Once you modify your hvx with hydra, can you still use your p2 cards and tape on the hvx?

yea the fact that the camera is still backwards compatible is the best part.....

Any news at all on Hydra? It has been what, almost 6 weeks since NAB?
I remember watching a NAB video where Juan said they would be posting a Table with frame rates, frame sizes, gigabit and color info for the different modes etc on their page that night and it never happened. They page is still the same since NAB. He also said they would be showing footage and dynamic range tests in 3 to 4 weeks from NAB. Where’s this stuff? Any updates? Has it been pushed back? I think people would appreciate to know it.
