From the FCP 6.0 'New Features" doc:

720p25 DVCPRO HD
You can now capture and output 720p25 DVCPRO HD from supported video devices,
such as the Panasonic AJ-HD1400 VTR.

(I imagine the HVX would also work.)

Integrated DVCPRO HD Frame Rate Converter
The DVCPRO HD Frame Rate Converter is now installed with Final Cut Pro. Both 720p60
and 720p50 footage can now be converted.

I also found this very odd paragraph in the 'FCP 6.0 HD and Broadcast Formats' doc:

720p50 DVCPRO HD Recorded at 24 fps
Duplicate frames are recorded and can be removed during P2 card ingest with the
Log and Transfer window or using the DVCPRO HD Frame Rate Converter.
Note: This format is only available using the Panasonic AG-HVX200E camcorder (PAL).

What??? The PAL camera does not offer a 24fps option. The closest we get is 23 and 25.

Well, atleast we can now capture 720p over Firewire, aswell as a supported Framerate converter for 50P here in PAL land. That's been a huge hole in my workflow.
This, coupled with the MXO now supporting 720p25 and 50 from the v02 firmware released this week makes me a very happy bunny.

not sure what's going on with the 24P option. If you had a flagged pulldown for 25fps, and then an extra frame was removed every 25 then you'd have a weird stutter to the footage every second.

Nice, very nice.

Nice, very nice.

I've just tried capturing 720p25 at 50fps over firewire into FCP6. Works a treat! Altered the 720p25 preset to capture at 50fps, set HVX into FilmCam 50FPS, then captured through Log and Capture. Retimed the clip to 25fps using the DVCPROHD Frame Rate Converter, and bingo. Beautiful Slo-mo direct into FCP. At last!

Have tested a few VFR clips through the new Frame Rate Converter and its working great here too. However, who's idea was it to not make this a batch utility - processes one clip at a time and makes you enter the new name each time. Shame.
