"Home from China" Doc teaser.

Very well done! It's refreshing to see a documentary that focuses on something positive and family oriented--very nice. It conveys a sence of maturity by nature and by content.

Thanks for the opportunity to check it out, HeavyG.

Hey,
the topic is very interesting, overall the interviews look good!
Things I didn´t like: the camera moves, they don´t look "stylized", but rather arbitrary and accidental.
Ligting ratio, the balance between fore and background somtimes favored the BG, the faces could have needed one extra stop more for my taste...
Again good work and good luck finishing it!

On the fly lighting, is sometimes poor... If I had time to do a set-up I would have. In this case the choice was "shoot now" and get what you get, or light / tweak and then loose the subjects before capturing the first frame.

I know hear what you are saying, I come from the world of shooting advertising where we can spend 3-4 days just to shoot a 30 second spot. Hours obsessing over lighting placement, and and camera moves---> I am learning a whole new way of working, so is my DP.

I work for a TV Network ... and trust me I get fire if I shot something like this.

1. That lamp need to be move over the shoulder
2. The frame for the interview.
3. Lighting
4. Hand cutways ( that 80's )
5. Editing

Good shots
1. Chris with wife in two shots with the camara at table lever.
