Best 80's kids flicks?

tmnt

King of Australia
I watched the brilliant Monster Squad last night, now I want to riminess some over great light 80's movies. Goonies, Sandlot Kids, Flight of the Navigator, Krull, License to Drive...

What else should I watch?

The Never Ending Story. The Great Muppet Caper. For really little kids, Rikki Tivvi Tavi is fun.

The Never Ending Story is my favorite fantasy film ever.

E.T.
Back to the Future
Raiders of the Lost Ark

Then of course you have all the classic John Hughes films:

Vacation
Sixteen Candles
Breakfast Club
Weird Science
Pretty in Pink

well i enjoy the series no matter what... for its creative effects and acting from CL and MJF.

I agree, but how disappointing were those sequels?

They suffer from the same thing many sequels do.

They follow a complete story, and as such, they seem contrived.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefers the first one to the sequels. For some reason, most people I know love Part II the most. It always kind of baffles me. It's entertaining, but the first film has something, I can't quite put my finger on.

keep em coming.

zoostory, The Last Starfighter kicks a$$! Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if Tron is getting a remake? (as much as I hate remakes Tron is a perfect candidate with what vfx could be used now).

Short Circuit just popped in my head but I watched that a few months ago. I had to laugh, it's got a few lines in it pushing that kids rating!

The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I just bought the "Empire" laserdisc from amoeba records for two dollars yesterday. I don't even really like Star Wars anymore, but I got all nostalgic and couldn't resist. I'll still hold out that "Empire" is the best film of the entire series.

Nah! What makes Tron great is what they did with what they had at the time. A CG Tron would be boring.

Bill and Ted's excellent adventure. However maybe not so kid movie with that foul language "you killed Ted you mideavil Di@#weed"

Ferris Bueller's Day Off and War Games...

War games wasn't nearly as good but anything with huge chunky computers and synthesizers in it does it for me!

I love Wargames. The low humming sound of the mainframe computer running is one of the best sounds in movies.

Though the best 80's movies is Better Off Dead. That movie completely invented the concept of a side character. Also, Breakfast club, Summer Rental, Lost Boys, Stand By Me, Ferris Bueller, and The Burbs are classics as well.

The Burbs, yeah I'll have to check that out again, I remember liking it. I don't think I've seen Summer Rental before.

Explorers. The stuff once they get to space isn't that great, but getting there is great. Superb kid performances. And the putting the spaceship together montage has an awesome piece of score by Jerry Goldsmith. Innerspace is another Joe Dante classic. Martin Short's best movie, although that's not saying much.
