Just had an Underwater Test shot today with Robert Eldon's EpicCam underwater housing unit. It's SCHWEEEET!. Working below the surface is a friggin' whole new ballgame. I'll fill you guys in on the mistakes as I make them. :)

How is 'working below the surface' going? Are you going to get the shots that you need? I can't wait to see how they turn out!
 
Robert, going great! Just found out a few more technical stuff with the UWH. You've gota make sure it's not pointing at the sun or have the sun directly behind it. Which, should make for an interesting test shoot.

Captured all Day#1's footage last night. HOly smokes.. Running two cameras is going to be a ***** specially in editing. ya, ya.. I know. Next time: Timecode.

Preping for tomorrow's shoot. I think i've got all the shots all figured out. *crosses fingers*

Are we picking up reflection from the inside of the housing when it's pointing at the sun or behind? I understand that can be an issue.
 
Yes.. It picks up small dots on the front glass (due to the auto focus) but also picks up the reflection of the top parts of the DVX. Then, when you point it away from the sun, the glass sees the reflection of the sun along with the housing behind it. The only clear way around it is to point it at a 90 from the sun. (or close to it) I haven't had a chance to test the macro focus yet, so hopefully we'll have a little time to bust those out.

bottom line... The UWH is leakproof and we can now shoot underwater. :)

Whoa what a day!!!

starting it off with a fix it ticket (no front plate) just 200 ft from the location for me...

A 4 camera shoot, to having 2 wheels stolen from one of our cast cars... what a day...

IT was a super fun day.
 
wowa. F'in kids have nothing better to do than to steal tires in broad daylight. In a neighborhood with beamers and benz's.. wtf?

I remember seeing something on the news a month or so ago that they were going to start cracking down on people without front plates. My wife got a ticket a few weeks back for the same thing.
 
Well i have a euro plate on it and the cali mounted inside the windsheild and have been driving like that for about ayear and a half. normally cops dont care but i think they where trying to make quota.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to all, and congratulations to Justin for an absolutely great day of shooting. Everybody at the shoot are just wonderful people, and I had a blast woking and hanging out with you guys. What a great cast and crew.

Justin, you're a real talented guy and I look forward to working with you again, same goes for everybody else; I look forward to seeing you all again.
