Standard Def HVX Student Film

Well i just wish the story / narrative/ and other things worked better but - the version im working on now - with more scenes etc is much better than it used to be.

I certainly can't agree that it looks better than most the stuff posted here - its a very professional side and massive kudos to the guys posting here. Certainly i'd hold your judgement of this film till u see it finished - that said thank you for your complement mon amie : )

Erm as an example of my amatuerishness hehe, all the CG is done in photoshop (there was no chroma screen used for this film though i did chroma one shot against a blue sky (a choice i made in the edit.) There are some 3d models used (and there not shots posted yet) but will be.

My only dread is that when i work with HD this is all gonna be x4 harder haha

Okay heres some pics (1 or 2) might be revisits, but only cos they will have been changed to the more sepia style im using oh and i replaced the car in one shot (i think this was the one a chap was referring to earlier)

Righto, well you will have this but, just as these new scenes have been done, so have the old scenes been re-edited and they include new grading. The effects might be a little less stylised than my first posts of pics (when they were all like different colours haha.)

Nice grabs. To my untrained eye it look like you've gone for a bleach bypass meets white diffusion look. Did you do all your ccing in photoshop? And can you explain a bit more of your process? I like what you've achieved here.

Yo my friend, Yes, well i like to call it er 'Bleached Sepia' (hehe but its basically is like bleach bypass with white diffusion lol) and yep your right a lot of the outdoor shots in particular use a lot of white diffusion. (Most of this films story relates to the past so it adds a kind of dreamy look)

I totally forgot to post this clip - this was what i was joking about feeling like Sergei Eisenstein

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV0SMGoPmwU hehe

The CC was done in premiere 2.0 using magic bullet and the basic RGB control from the image control panel. I do everything before adding the grading naturally - but all the special effects (the mattes) are photos edited from the net (in public domain useage of course.)

With HD i won't get away with that as much though for sure lol, just cos i'll need to go out and photograph such hi res pics - anyway im rambling!

Once again the link hehe

Your saying all the city background shots were from the web? Looks really cool.

I'm surprised you were able to find such pictures. Googled them?

Yep mon amie just googled, but had to check with folks regarding their copyright (not an issue for a lot of these pictures tho.)

Now for some more pics from a romantic scene ;)

This is from a completely different scene - a totally surreal animated sequence (theres loads of surreal stuff to come from this montage) - note shot from a XL

Alright here are some shots from the war montage (it lasts about 1 min - 30 secs) and happens in the middle of the film - signalling the russian invasion of hungary.
The montage is surreal basically and i use a few shots (from a crap student film i did ages ago called Chechnya) and its come out ok i reckons :) Anyway it does all look a lot better moving - had a go with my first 3d and while its crude lol i think its passable.

This is a frame (of a fast camera pan) that shows these jets bombing stuff below - they fly off frame (leaving a cool tilted shot of this russian officer) - anyway thought id show my fav jet - the Mig 21 hehe (don't ask my why they just look cool *ahem*)
